Buy HoI IV from Imperial Games

Hello,

Searching for a cheaper way to get Hearts of Iron IV(I did buy the Cities Skylines expansion packs from Paradox Store, so a quarter less of the sin )) ), I found this site(beside GMG with -25% for Field Marshal Edition):

Converted, the price would be something like 60E, compared to 90 on Steam


So...Do you have any past experience with this site or did you buy HoI IV/Stellaris from them?Also, what do you think about Green Man Gaming? Are they trustworthy?

I've bought games from GMG before. Nothing shady about them, you purchase and then get a steam key.

Interestingly, Imperial Games (who I've not seen before) have a big red banner across the screen saying 'Can not be activated in Germany'

...so they must only sell the international edition, and they've been told it won't activate in Germany.

bought a key on imperialgames.com and it is indeed regionlocked in germany and can not be activated. If you are familiar with VPNs and their use with Steam and you are willing to take a small risk, then it is certainly possible to activate the international version as a german user anyway (try to do so at your own risk).

Not that it's the case with you, but that can also work for dubious grey market resellers. You buy the key, you activate it with our problem, then later it's revoked.

So, better to be careful. But if prior purchases lead you to trust a seller it's OK.

I often use retailers to save quite a few euros.

I think that the most important thing to avoid being scammed is to do some research about the retailer before purchasing anything from them, f.x google around until you find some posts on message boards from people who have used the retailer in question and see what they have experienced.

Also remember the golden rule: If it sounds to good to be true, it often is.

I haven't used Imperialgames before myself, but I might go for them this time around since the ones I normally use don't have the field marshal edition but just the cadet. I did google around a bit just now and have found some positive posts about imperialgames, but will look more tomorrow.

How many hours have you actually played the game ? Getting a code quickly is not a guarantee.

The reputation of the seller and your previous experience with him are a good indications.

I'm not targeting any seller in particular, just be cautious of previously unknown ones.

No offense mate, but an account created today with this as the first message... not a ticket to my trust (although naming it Imperial Games is obviously a point in your favour, given the transparency). Input from a paradox dev would be far more convincing, I think. You can try ask them to confirm, perhaps. IIRC, one of them did comment on GMG being legit in some previous thread, which easily settled the issue for me.

I say that knowing absolutely nothing about Imperial Games and if you are indeed legit, I wish you all the best!

He's legit. After reading this thread, I decided to chat with someone from the website - gotta support my fellow canucks you know - and spoke with a fellow by the name of Frederick. I mentioned the thread and he wrote that message shortly thereafter.

They're based out of Montreal. Small company. Pretty much the same model as GMG is what he told me. GMG is in US dollars which is not always ideal for Canadian shoppers which is why I looked into it.
