(I haven't taken the time to poke around on the web/wiki) I've tried to avoid spoilers because I'm enjoying being terrible in campaign mode (honestly I should see if there is a manual and do the extended tutorials :D )

Because once I know which 'Mechs are in... I can't wait for Urban Warfare... because I loved Hunchbacks. AC20s ftw.

Oh my. It just struck me that there's a slew of people born after the turn of the century that are already legally adults. That... just seems wrong :)

I am using JK Rarity and see Urbanmechs in a lot of missions

It's not a bug. It's to deal with the fact that early game, the AC10 is an absolute beast of a weapon. The Urbie in fact developed a reputation in the beta of being a reliable headcapper, which lead to AC10s getting their damage cut from 75 during the Beta. Even then Kiva decided to cycle the Urbie out of force compositions as it proved too powerful when handed to players in the early game.

This feels sooo wrong. And if I do not care about MP and just try to play campaign/career am I to buy one because I never see one at all? At least when fighting Capellans, there should be a good chance to see some. They have a nice chassis in the game but no sir, you can't have it because balancing. That thing is slow as heck and as a light does not have that much armor. OTOH...If I get an early Enforcer or refit my stock Black Jack in campaign with an AC10 from start...this is better? *shakes head*

No they won't spawn unless you go into the JSON and delete the tag.

Actually, in the campaign, you'll find that you're pretty much on training wheels until you get the Argo, meaning even though you start with 'mechs like the Blackjack, you'll struggle to actually get heavier weapons in the early game. It's a kind of stealth tutorial and something like it was inevitable in a game as complex as Battletech.

Other people know more about how OpFor composition is coded in the game, so I don't know if there is any faction weighting at the moment, but it's not something I'd worry too heavily about at this moment: it's an issue which has been raised on these forums (and HBS really *do* listen to what we say here) and it's definitely on the wishlist of features going forward. As soon as it makes sense and doesn't impact other parts of the game that are at least as important, HBS will almost certainly deliver faction weighting at some point down the line, and rest assured there are Urbie fans among devs, so it's worth being patient.

The humble trashcan *will* have its day.

Actually, in the campaign, you'll find that you're pretty much on training wheels
The game will not spawn any contract that is not tagged as TUTORIAL in Campaign mode until you take the first priority mission. In Career mode it looks like the same rules apply for the planet you start on and 1 jump but I don't have enough real data to compare. After this boundary condition is met no Contract tagged as TUTORIAL will spawn.

Because of both the spawns and the planet tags... getting an AC10 in the Early Campaign is really hard. You literally have to move away from the Arano area. There is nearly no chance of finding a mech that has an AC10 and salvaging it. Finding an AC10 is hard in the early game!

There is no Faction based spawning in the ProcGen missions, AFAICT. While it was possible to add this by modding in 1.3... some stuff might have gotten broken in 1.4. However, there is nothing that indicates this applies to any other chassis. Some chassis are more common than others and thus some might think that the CTF only occurs in missions where Liao is the target. This might be true, or not.

1.4 introduced a limit to the spawning of the Hatchetman too early in the timeline. This is the limit of spawn gatekeeping AFAIK.

More because the Urbie's speed messes with AI lance effectiveness rather than the AC10.
