I dont know, Ive been doing a game with the intention of switching to netherlands, but then I ask myself, Why? Sure I could conquer france with both, but whats the point? Burgundy has some really fantastic Ideas, unique ones. So why bother with netherlands? If i conquer france ill already be strong enough with the navy with one major threat vanquished. So really whats the point? WOuldnt it be better to take advantage of the massive land expansion into france, and then go into HRE? In fact, im pretty sure if you release some vassel you can make yourself go into hre. Sure if you started as frieslands and decided to go netherlands thats one thing, and they do have very excellent ideas, but really. If your already burgundy, whats the point?

The Dutch have a +80% naval forcelimit (50% of traditions and 30% of unique goverment) with a lot of trading oriented NIs.

Pick Netherlands if you want a global trading empire, pick Burgundy if you want total hegemon on the old world. Make sure to release your French holdings before switching to the Netherlands.

If you are already Burgundy, stay Burgund. Netherlands is for those lil guys to form.

The netherlands is not a fun game... Unless you can beat france down to nothing, you're going to have problems. That naval power wont save you from the frogs when they decide to get uppity.

Yea it just does feel like cheating though. Burgundy starts as the top nation in the world and can beat france pretty easily. then you turn yourself into the most powerful colonial-trade nation ever.

The netherlands is not a fun game... Unless you can beat france down to nothing, you're going to have problems.

so what you're saying is "a challenging game is not a fun game", what? imo it's precisely those kind of games that are the most fun games!..

But the vast majority of Burgundy is Dutch/Flemish and Wallonian, I don't mind alternative history and the French parts stay French.. and forming the netherlands with a Dutch OPM is alternative history as well.

If the AI forms it, it is almost always caused by the actual events
