Hi all, I've just discovered Burgundy and its a very interesting nation. My goal is to take France and then form big bad oranje trade blob.
But the peace timer makes it really frustrating and it feels like by the time I've fully removed France it will be almost game over.

Heres my second campaign (first one I formed Holland without reading the consequences so I quit and started all over again)
2hxlhqt.png

Whats the fastest way of removing baguette and then form liberal republic of windmills and wooden clogs?

Make baguette release vassals and either vassalize them or attack them when baguette is allied to them to drag baguette into a war.
You should be able to have a maximum of 2 or 3 years of truce between wars with baguette.
And everything should be really easy after the 2nd war... so France should have disappeared entirely way before 1594 (in your case, they should have never been allowed to eat Brittany)

1st war, ally Castile and force France to release its current vassals(before they can integrate them). Diplo-vassalize them for no AE. 2nd war force release of more vassals. Integrate old ones. Dipplo-vassalize new ones. Repeat until France is gone. You can also sell French lands to them if you wan't but you will have so much ADM over what're you going to spend it on?

1st war vs England, force release of Cornwall. Diplo-vassalize. Sell an English culture province to them, if they don't accept core it yourself, then sell it. English now accepted in Cornwall. Can proceed to sell rest of England to Cornwall. If you don't like sitting on OE you can release Wales and Northumbria and do the same thing, nice to be able to sell off 3 provinces immidiately after peace, let's you go over 100% OE for a day or two.

Hey, I'm also doing a Burgundian playthough and I'm finding Austria to be a rather annoying pest. Would it make sense to remove all my provinces from the HRE or, instead, join it and then become the emperor? In any case, I'm planning to have about the same borders as Charlemagne.

Austria will remain a pest because it'll get involved every single time you even look eastwards.

You also cannot join the HRE, you're too big for the Emperor to allow you into the secret clubhouse.

So vassalize the nearby electors, maybe butter up one or two others, become HRE and THEN join it.

Though I do believe Netherlands is in the HRE meaning you'd join if and when you take the decision (which changes your capital).

I just got PU with Spain.....so form France or Holland?

ou4cxj.png

Do you want to expand as much as possible?

No?

Form France.

Netherlands is good with it's republic, but you'll lose the PU (iirc) so...

Dutch republic OP.

Spain had me at hostile and Portugal supported their independence, so I went to war with Portugal-GB and the war lasted for what seems like forever. I went to war now and then until Spain had vassal attitude. However since they had many colonies there was no way I would be able to integrate, so I went to war and had their WE go up until Catalunya broke free, however that backfired as I didnt pay attention to pretender rebels so suddenly Spain was independent. *doh!*

o9pseb.png

I got solid income and manpower so restoration of PU shouldnt be much of a problem.
Ive also added all my provinces to the HRE.

edit : *doh!* again, there is no restoration CB as a republic.
edit : seems I got the republic descision while at war and thus lost the PU that way and not to pretender rebels.

>Burgundian France with a PU over Spain

Mother of God

I just wish I found France easier to deal with. I admit I haven't played much, but the only times I've beaten France on land were as Brandenburg and the Ottomans. Going to try and use trade wars, reparations, and hopefully humiliation as England to keep them down a bit.

I started a game as Burgundy today and I'm just carpet sieging France in 1447. I allied Castille and Aragon and then declared war before my allies would go at each other. However, I needed a lot of loans (as Burgundy is so rich, this won't be any problem at all) and completely drained my manpower pool (it was already down to 10000 when the war started as I had to build up my army very fast, and there weren't enough available mercenaries). I hope that France will have some rebel problems due to their high war exhaustion soon so they don't recover faster than me.

Did you actually attack France right at the start or did you wait for a better opportunity, for example after unlocking the Burgundian mercenary ideas? I just hope that I'm not indirectly strengthening Austria with my "blitz" approach and I wonder if there is a better strategy. (although I'd rather strengthen Austria than letting France integrate its vassals)

Austria and France rarely get into it until the 100 years war is over and France goes after a member of the HRE like Liege and Austria cannot beat France without player help unless they've had the Inheritance, which can't fire because you are Burgundy, so Austria is a non issue. In fact, you want them to go to war with you because they idiotically ally electors, ally one yourself first so you can have 3 on your side, that's normally enough because Austria will lose lots of support when you release Styria (catch and release if you want, Styria is an awesome vassal).

Waiting for Burgundy's Mercenary NI is pretty risky because it's in the same spot as France's Elan! You want to limit France's power before they get that morale boost. Getting Iberia involved hard and fast is a good strategy I'd say. In an ideal world they'll attack Savoy early and drag in the HRE, then you declare on them and bring along your Iberian friends.

Ive tried countless times to do a day one dow but it seems impossible. So I just declear as soon as Castille joins. And the first thing I do is to take out and peace Savoy as them are allied with France.
