I wonder what the BB will be like when Philip V comes around? 100? 200?:D Good start, though. Don't get the BB too high, LJ. I want to be able to at least take out China when my monarch reigns. :D Good luck.

Right Mr. T, I didn't want to get stuck holding the bag when England made peace for 10 ducats... And this frees LJ up to take some of our national provinces, so we'll have a bigger resource base in 5 years when the truce is up. After all, Lorraine is just sitting there, with no allies... :D

And I'm surprised Orleans has held out. There wasn't one single change to the map of Europe during my reign... Usually at least a couple of one-province minors go down in the first few months of a GC.

Dan Cook: All spots are taken at the moment, but I'll put you on the waiting list if anyone has to drop out.

* a wise old man hobbles into the room, supported by a cane*

Well, if no one minds a little advice from a verteran Burgundian player(its my favorite nation to play...I love What-If's), I would advice that we work and build up our innovation level before we work on anything else as it will allow us to NOT be hampered by the Dutch events. Also, if you can, try to diplomatically annex Savoy and Helvettia and then turn our attention towards Germany and Italy for easy expansion.

*the old wise man hobbles out of sight. You suddenly hear the screech of tires, and a crash, followed by cries of "my god, he jsut walked out infront of me!*

well I am 16 years into my reign, and I face a questoin. We aren't playing on Very Hard, so I have nothing to fear from going over the 35 BB point barrior, unless you guys don't want me to. If I was playing my own game, i wouldn't stop, simply because there is no reason to... but if you guys want to... I can sit around for the next 32 years with my thumb up my ass :D

I won't tell you how i got the points, just trust me that we are in a VERY good position right now....

Keep conquering, by all means. I intend to at the end, if no one else does.

One question, however. Wouldn't it have been easier to just switch to reformed come the calvinist event to avoid the revolts?

And out of curiosity, MacRAith, why didn't you take ninvernais and champagne? Not complaining, but a useful way to cut France off.

Speaking as someone whose reign is done, and so won't have to deal with the consequences :D, I'd say: Go for it! If we're big enough and powerful enough, a high BB rating is nothing to worry about. (If I'd had a longer reign, I'd certainly have left you with at least a little tarnish on our reputation to deal with, though we probably wouldn't have been much worse than dishonorable scum - lucky for you I got assassinated so quickly!)

But now I'm wondering, just what did you do to sweet little Lorraine to piss everyone off so much? ;) Can't wait to read about it...

And the ducats looked like a better resolution than I could hope for if I held out longer, though I may not have made that obvious in my AAR. Artois was weakening and probably would have fallen in a few more months, and there was no way I could take Champagne before that. So I took the money while it was on the table.

Well... this is interesting, and it doesnt give anything away...

France had some problems with other wars, and they ended up with Paris, Nivernias, and Champaign under rebel control, with no way of getting the armies to the north... Both provinces defected to us... so we got them VERY early in my reign anyway.

As to the BB, I am not warmongering.. but it adds up quick. Lets just say that Philip the Bold's greatness extends far beyond the field of battle... ok... i digress... back to the game :)

I assume you got my email MacRaith

Yeah I guess. there is a lot of years for stuff to happen.

It's just my experience, that once I get a decent empire going, I rarely lose a war, let alone lose provinces. I usually play hard/normal

there is a huge difference between hard and very hard though. If you're big enough on hard, you won't even get DoW... on very hard you will get about 20 DoW on the same day :)

I will leave you guys something to conquer, don't worry :)

I'm guessing that by the time Calvin comes along (during my reign, I think...) we'll either
1) have so many more Catholic provinces that it won't make any sense to convert just to spite the Dutch, or
2) be rich and powerful enough to park 150,000 men in the Low Countries and have done with it, or
3) both. :D

I did work on getting the innovativenesss up though... I was going to do that anyway... I had four DP "click" and this is how i spent them...

+2 Land
+1Innovative

I still have 10 years to play... I will be done tonight with my 48 years worth, but it will take me a couple days to get all the posts up... it is half a century after all....

All of you guesses to our BB are too low, and i still have 10 more years :)

Aye, that's exactly how it went in my private Burgundy GC. So I just kept about 70,000 men marching back and forth through the Netherlands for a century or so. :) Not only that, but I converted all of the Dutch provinces back to Catholic (which doesn't stop the revolts, but does make them a bit easier to suppress). It was expensive, but it kept the game from getting boring while I went through a period of massive colonial expansion in North America.

I'll let you in on a little secret. You can convert your own provinces, even when they are catholic already. It seems pointless, no? Well the catch is, you can prevent those provinces from ever becoming reformed :D

at least you used to be able to... I don't know if you still can
