Possible or not?
Tried it with 12 province emperor Brandenburg, me (main offender in war) and France went for burgundy (BS war for unlawful territory, the one after first reform). The aim was to force inheritance. No luck. No heir, ruler general, 100% occupation, no diplo points from CFP etc. 20 years.
I'm asking this , cause the wiki + the files say 'not at war with emperor or no provinces of emperor occupied by burgundy'...
I don't get it. The latter should be logically enough: if burgundy isn't at war with emperor it automatically does not occupy emperor's land... so why distinction? It would be enough to write "no emperor province occupied by burgundy"...
Is it that I can't be main belligirent/offender or what?
Two different games for me this happened and no inheritance.
Yeah ... thats that.

oh, btw is French emperor still able to inherit all of Burgundy?

1. You're right that the're is redundancy but that's how the event is scripted. If Burgundy doesn't occupy an Emperor's province, then the Emperor inherit its share.
2. You've just been unlucky. Sometimes I have sat on Burdungy for decades up to 20 war exhaustion without the event firing. Sometimes it comes 2 months into the game. You've just to try again.
3. Yes, French Emperor inherit of everything, but usually one or two unions have broken free when he does. Still, it's a great inheritance. :)

Brandenburg already the emperor, and 20yrs lasting war? What is your year? I am asking coz Inheritance may fire only before 1500. Other reason may be just lack od luck - Inheritance is not granted for sure - it's RNG.

While yes, "no provinces of the emperor occupied by Burgundy" implies "Burgundy not at war with the Emperor" - the latter check is cheaper in terms of calculations, and if "not at war" returns TRUE you can skip the second check.
It also, IMO, makes for a more human readable logic.

Note that one thing that would make the inheritance guaranteed to not happen is if Burgundy has a female ruler. Other than that, the odds are on your side to get the inheritance, but they're not a guarantee by any means.

Oh, so it makes game run smoother for reason of easier calculations :) OK, I get that. Like it just checks if at war not checking each of my provinces individually if occupied by BUR. Got it. Thx for reply.

In my initial war with Austria, if I invite Burgundy into the war, I focus first on getting umm, I play this game a lot, but you know that province that borders Burgundy, Sundugau or something and pass the occupation to them, when I am at war with Austria here, it's to ensure I get the Inheritance, not him, I've had it fire during that war and been horrified, so most of the time, I go it alone and try to get it done before the suicidal Burgundy declares on France, which they could beat if they were as good at doomstacking as France is, but alas, they are not.

My favourite method of getting the Inheritance as Castile, is to war with France and give a majority of the warscore in provinces to Burgundy, yep, give them Paris. Then call them into the reconquista war against Granada, which they will decline, nevertheless, have diplo stuck on Burgundy to keep relations high to replace any royal marriage that needs to occur. This way, I will not have to decline the coalition war that will soon begin against Burgundy. I've had that event fire in the first days of the war, the last days of the war, or not at all, which is when I restart, because the coalition forces, break up the country in the peace deal.

I've also had it fire in that war with France, but it's very unlikely to do so if you actually try to beat France.

Ironically, that's the one thing that should make the Inheritance absolutely certain.
