Hey there. I'm having a massive load of problems at the moment with my game and would appreciate some help.

To start - though this is perhaps more attributed to Steam itself - whenever I click play for the game, it crashes almost immediately, sometimes after bouncing on the dock (I'm on a Mac) for a few moments, then just closes. The only way I'm able to actually play the game is because it asks me if I want to reopen the application, but I know it isn't playing it through Steam then because it doesn't show up as that, and I can't access any of the Steam in-game utilities etc, including achievements. Blarg.

I bought Sons of Abraham over Green Man Gaming the day the DLC came out, using the provided key for Steam. It seems to have registered it as whenever I go onto the store page for SoA it says I have purchased it, and it also appears in the checklist at the launch menu. But when on the main menu, it suggests I buy Sons of Abraham through the in-game menu (which I can't access anyway because I'm not playing it through Steam due to it crashing).

And for the features of the game itself, for some reason I can no longer play from the Old Gods bookmark, either with or without Sons of Abraham checked, as it just isn't there anymore; the families that I know for a fact have a special Coat of Arms just appear to have a randomly generated one (easiest reference for me from my memory would be Yngling, but it applies most certainly to all of the major Norse families and I'm certain many others as well, though just one is painstaking enough). And, when I have Sons of Abraham checked, I'm unable to play as a Jewish character.

I have restarted Steam and my computer numerous times, and have uninstalled and deleted as much as I could find of CK2 and reinstalled, all to no avail.

Any help would really be well received. Checksum is XFMJ.

Thank you in advance.

Can you go into Steam and disable the "Steam community overlay" thing, and see if that helps the crash. If so it's this bug

Ignore the in-game store, that is for GamersGate users only. It will always show the latest DLC there.

Does TOG show as a working DLC? In the country selection screen you get a series of small round icons, centre-left on the screen, one for each major DLC - what shows there?

How are you attempting to select a Jewish character, and what happens when you try? I don't have any of these problems on my Mac, just so you know.

Oh my word I love you! After I turned off the Steam overlay, the game didn't crash immediately on startup and everything else worked beautifully. I shall work on this overlay-related bug, but for the meantime I'm just happy to finally get back into playing. Thank you very much! :)
