Considering that Cities in Motion 2 is based in the modern era (2013+), I'm hoping that newly developed cities will adopt the nature of glass skyscrapers and more contemporary architecture used in new buildings as of today.

Dubai

Not the older primitive concrete buildings from the 60s, such as the ones that are so common in places like New York

I don't agree, it wouldn't be realistic at all. As far as i Know, New York is in 2013 like the rest of the world and no one bulldozed Manhattan to build all new glass skyscrapers. Except for Dubai, Shanghai and few other oriental cities, I don't know any places that looks like that. A variety of buildings gives the city a more interesting cityscape.

But, our cities are being built in 2013... There would be no Manhattan or whatever to bulldoze in the first place! And I guess you're right in some parts, although, I do want some nice modern-looking cities with nice skyscraper designs! :)

Maybe even a choice on which style(s) the player prefers, like it was possible in Sim City 4. But I actually care much more about the gameplay and not so much about how the buildings look like. ;)

Unfortunately it's impossible for a small company like Colossal Order to make different graphic sets for a game. With Cities in Motion 2 we concentrated on the gameplay and balance. I hope you'll like it! And maybe we'll have a chance to add some buildings later on :)

I've seen a few redundant buildings that are identical.
A good solution would be to include different shades of colour/paint to the building, which appear randomly, to ensure buildings look a bit unique, even if they're the same model! :)

A street full of randomly colored houses is what I would dislike. Making a good algorythm for painting buildings is quite difficult.

Any chance of adding more buildings from CIM 1? There are tons of buildings just begging to be converted, and i'm not just talking about the european blockhouses, I don't think that even the full set of new york buildings from CIM 1 is there. Whats to stop you converting all these at a later date? In fact, could modders do it, is it easy? After all, the more variety the better! I really want to recreate some of my local towns (I live in England) but the generic american look of the buildings would make that almost impossible.

Perhaps some themed DLC's later on would be a good idea. For example you could have a european DLC, with a new region map using the european buildings from CIM 1. UK, Japan and Russian DLCs could follow, all reusing CIM 1 buildings and props (with more if possible!).

I always liked the european look of CIM 1, too many games are based in america. I also much prefered working in the 'small town' style maps, I never really enjoyed the huge maps filled with skyscrapers so much. One reason being they always made navigating with the camera really difficult, I hope that is solved in CIM 2.

The screens I have seen of CIM 2 look amazing, but the cities seems to be a mass of tower blocks and skyscrapers, with a few suburban houses on the outskirts. I think more 3-5 storey town houses are needed to make a more realistic transition from suburbs to city centre. After all, a suburb would usually develop gradually, you wouldn't just get a skyscraper be developed in the middle of a suburb of two storey houses (usually anyway, I know there are exceptions). There were some quite nice victorian townhouses in the CIM 1 new york map which I havn't seen in any screens, the type with railings at the front round a below-street level basement.

But that how it is in real life. Usually there are block after block of identical buildings. Especially in Eastern Europe where soviets just builded huge blocks of same buildings for blue workers without anything unique in them.

Yeah, themed DLCs are a great idea. I'd personally love to see English style towns and cities in CiM2 - so what's necessary are the specific-style buildings, props, and (maybe, but not necessarily) left hand drive. Actually I think that CiM2's simulation engine allows to make something like an English city with lots of suburbs and small towns surrounding it ;)

To get more variety, we do have changing colour palettes in CiM 2. All buildings are modern, there are some glass skyscrapers and more down-to-earth buildings that are not as fancy. It's important to quickly distinguish one area from another, so there are tiny houses and huge colossal ones too, for different areas of the city. We do hope to add more buildings later!

Yeah, I know, but not in random places. This usually occurs in a single area, where that area has been designed by the same architect, I think.

I guess you're right, but look at the last image, where distinctive skyscrapers are repeated several times.
i.e There's only one Empire State building, it would be weird if there were multiple in the same city!

Does that mean you'll have financial districts where offices and huge businesses will congregate? :) This will be a great hub for public transport; bringing in employees from all around the city (especially suburbs) inside to work.

Let modders do the job. :) There are so many beautiful buildings in CiM1, someone should convert them...
