Are there going to be different building styles in the game? For example: New York 1940s style, or Chicago 1890 style, like Sim City 4? And would it be possible to make buildings be one next to each other, like real organic cities?

There aren't that many building styles now. Remember, they're only 13 people making the game. 9 for most of the development. I'm not sure, but I think they said that you could mod the zone tools so that specific types of buildings come from them. That's really really useful.

devs have said one of the first things they will be looking into will be european style wall to wall buildings after release.. (undoubtably because they are european)

Cool! I expect that a lot! That would make cities look awesome!
Yeah, even though New York and Chicago are very dense cities, not everyone has that "space available orgy" like the Americans!! So, wall to wall buildings is a must!! Brazilian cities tend to follow the historical master plan from the middle ages: buildings crushed together and very narrow streets.

Undoubtedly that photos follow my request for the game. But imagine making not just "small" wall to wall european buildings, but skycrappers too! Not saying instantly in the release of the game, but giving modders "tools" for programming building add-ons to give that wall to wall chance to every building in the game. Cities XL has some mods for that. The idea is to make them "official" in this new chance.

It would be nice if the game aged. You start of with medieval castles and huts churches and stuff then as time goes by you unlock more future buildings. This is how real cities are built. You upgrade the old and work around the historical. Which can attract tourists. Maybe some buildings collapse over time or become obsolete and new buildings are stuck in its place or you bulldoze where necessary when the car is invented to fit a highway in.

Kind of like Banished meets simcity

Game cities are formed brand new in 2015 and have no history.

SimCity Creator for the Nintendo DS did this sort of... the game itself is kinda meh, but the advancement through eras was a cool idea.

I always think it would be really awesome to have a game that extends over time periods and I think someone could pull it off if they made a city building game that just covered an older era as the base game and then keep adding the next eras as expansions over the years. My favorite part of the railroad tycoon games was the changing conditions as time went on.

Yeah.

My biggest problem with these games is finding a reason to do what you are doing instead of just doing it for fun. I would like to evolve and grow my city from the basics like how most of them are formed in reality in the olden days. Before the car building near a lake was important for transport and trading, cities start out around water and grow and spread further out the less they rely on it as technology improves.
