Well I had the game for a long time now but only noticed this now when you reach tech level 3 in infrastructure it says you can building breweries so i decided to build some I went to a province where I didn't have any manufactury built but when I selected the build option there was no brewery option just: Fine arts, Naval Equipment, Weaponary, and goods manufacturer.

And if the build option is hidden somewhere in town I can't find it.

Now the question is, is there a way to build breweries in game? or were they renamed to refinery which gives bonuses in Wine producing provinces(this is the only thing I can come up with me.)

Either you have a strangely bugged game, or the fifth choice should be Refinery - which is the same as Brewery.

Yes -- the little tech pop-up info window calls them breweries, but they mean refineries. A bit odd -- you'd want breweries in grain provinces, rathern than wine ones. Which is, perhaps, why they changed the name.

breweries would make sense.

its funny though I had the game for over 6 months and I just noticed that now because I transferred my CK game over and decided to check out what techs I start with and I noticed there was no build brewery option.

Not really. Beer was mostly a local product, not something traded on long distances, nor something akin to a primary product. And most EU2 grain provinces are not renowned for their beers (look at Belgium's EU2 provinces : cloth and iron).

AFAIK, the great expansion of the production of beer dates from the XIXth century.

OTOH, wine was a product traded on long distances, and entire regions are famous for their wine. Just look at all the EU2 wine provinces : they're all in regions where you'll find great wines, and many vintages and wine-growing activity.

Wine is a trade good. Beer and cider are local produced and consumed goods.

All of which may be true, but you don't "refine" wine. ;)

I suppose they didn't want to call it a winery, though.

In fact, you refine... sugar. And that's the other trade good giving a refinery it's full income bonus. :D

And after checking, in french, one of the translations of refine is "affiner", and I've seen it used when speaking of wine. So, you do refine wine. :p
