The official strategy guide advises not to trade spices with regions of another religion than your main one, because the religious prestige will only benefit someone else. Since temples have much the same effect, I am wondering if I should only build them in regions that have my state religion. My governors seem to prefer temples everywhere as they complain about them and build them on their own initiative (by event) even if the region is of another religion. Should I follow their example?

Good question. One would think that the temples you build would represent your cultures religion.

Temples you or your governors build in provinces not of your state religion increase their religious prestige and not that of your state, at least until you convert them.

Thanks. I guess I'll take the occassional loyalty loss from impatient governors rather than build up someone else's religious prestige.
