Ok, I've played quite a few games with HTTT before, but this was my first non-European game, and I'm seeing some issues. I'm playing as Vijayanagar. So far I've had issues with attrition not working correctly for my opponents - The Timurids had a 20k army in one of my provinces that I had scorched the earth. This was in addition to another 2-3 small armies. The 20k army didn't lose anyone to attrition. This army also magically moved between provinces. I was fighting an army of 4k, then all of a sudden was fighting 24k. I could see every province around that one with the battle, and that army did not move into it from one of them - it just appeared. I've had other times with attrition not working - enemy armies actually gaining troops due to reinforcement in my provinces, despite them being way, way over the supply limit.

I'm also having whack-a-mole issues with rebels, similar to back before...I think IN fixed this. I'll defeat their army, they retreat, I chase them, and then a battle with no losses on either side. I've noticed that the battle shows that both armies have 0 morale, despite my army having high morale.

Are these known bugs? Should I buy Divine Wind, or am I missing something?

I've never played HTTT, I joined during the DW era, so I'll just answer the last question. Yes, Divine Wind is totally worth it to buy, as it fixes lots of bugs and adds new content around the world. Plus, since you'd have the latest expansion you can take advantage of mods and such to make the game even more fun if you so desire.

It's perfectly possible that the Timurids are losing 1000 men to attrition then reinforcing 1000 men at the same time, so you don't notice any difference in their strength. (But their manpower will be falling, of course.) Especially if they have an excellent leader with high Manoeuvre stat, which reduces attrition taken.

Make sure your map cache isn't corrupted: that can lead to the game thinking two provinces are adjacent when they actually are not.

Later versions of the game introduced the feature of zero-morale armies being wiped out instantly when battle starts; I don't know if HttT had this yet.

Thanks, I'll have to check on the map cache.

I am pretty sure IN fixed the rebel issue, but I'm still seeing it sometimes. Half the time zero morale armies are wiped, half the time they aren't. I recall having the issue rarely in previous games in Europe, but this game it's happening frequently.

I still don't get the attrition thing though. Many of the provinces are tropical. I get attrition with an army of 10k in my own province, and I'm pretty sure a leader with 2-3 maneuver shouldn't give them a net increase in men in my provinces.

I find the attrition issue you're having weird too. Although, at least for today, EU3 Chronicles (including DW) is free at GameFly, if you want to get the last expansion. There's a few threads around with a link. Like I said I'd definitely recommend getting Divine Wind, it makes a lot of good changes.
