Did 1.05 change bishop succession in some way? I'd been away from cK since the 1.04betas and played a game recently where a number of weird things happened. At one point, I had a lady pope (alas, not named Joan, but Berta). There was also an Bishop that gained the title to the kingdom of France but remained a vassal of the Duke of Orleans. At some point the Archbishopric of France changed to a Kingdom (but remained a vassal). Now France and Orleans are at war, but the King of France is STILL a vassal of the Duke of Orleans. I actually have a decent chance of inheriting the Kingdom of France (I just have to assassinate the child ruler before he produces an heir and my son will inherit the Kingdom), but I'm not sure that I want to with all this screwiness.

Lady Popes happen sometimes. They don't last long, as there are events that kill them.

The Archbishop of France is an odd situation. Did you do any modding to your game?

No. It's vanilla. I've seen vassal Kings before, though--usually it's the Kingdom of Jerusalem.

Never have seen the 'bugs' (except the female Pope which is a known issue) that you describe, neither have I heard of others reporting this. It seems that it is something with just your game.

The thing with him still being a vassal despite fighting him happens from time to time in my games, but him outranking his own liege at the same time is interesting...save and reload might help.

Or you could just laugh at the French...

That can happen, when a bishop in a war takes the title 'king of Germany' or any other kingtitle.

Event-created kingdoms are bugged. The game treats them as Counts until a succession or two happens.

The Archbishop of France, Vassal of a Duke, and at war with the Duke, thing is bizarre. I've been at war with my vassals sometimes -- if a Count rebels against his Duke, pledges allegiance to the King, and his former Duke becomes King. Best guess is the current Duke of Orleans was a Count, who was not a vassal of the Duke of Orleans; and ended up at war with the Archbishop of France. Then the Count became duc d'Orleans.

But, AFAIK, there's no way for the King of France-title to be vassal of any Duke. Post it to the strange screens thread, cause it's definitly strange.
