Hi,
First of all, sorry if this is wrong forum (that's part of the question).
I just completed the registration on Paradox and this Forum, but have the feeling I'm missing something. The FAQ and Tech Support forums are still empty, the latter displaying a message I have to register my CD key. I only have a steam version, searched the forums, read the FAQS and stickies but can't find out how to register.

Besides that, people are referring to the 'bug forum' but I can't seem to find that. What am I missing here?

The reason I am looking for the bug report forum:
- Steam auto-updated CK2 to the latest version (2.3 BTOF).
- After this my savefiles worked for some time, but now constantly crashes to desktop at 1 february.
- Disabled all DLC's, no mods installed, tried switching to different characters, different resolutions, reinstall, etc.
- Googled and this should have been reported a lot ('on the bug forum' which I can't find); suppossedly all Linux/OSX users (am using ubuntu) are having this issue.

Ofcourse I can downgrade and start a new game, but I really like this save game To be honest I am quite pissed about this, and the fact that Paradox isn't responding for two weeks due to religious holidays. It makes me wonder if they tested this at all. The only reason I can think of that they wanted to push this buggy patch just before taking a holiday, is so they could sell the DLC.

So besides dealing with my frustration I would like to ask how to report this as a bug, and if every update is going to be like this. Or are windows users having no problems at all?

..Or maybe someones knows a way how to use a 2.3 savegame in a 2.1 install?

When go load CK2 you will get a small display referring to using Shift-Tab to get to/from a Steam interface. You need to do that to clear the message. When you go into the interface, you will find in the middle of the display the set of licence keys that you need to register yourself into the full forum set.

In Paradox, then Click on My Games (top left), select the game and add the licence key. Do that for each game/DLC.

I just had a look at the Bug list. The problem was reported 2nd Dec. From a trace dump on 17th, Paradox can repeat the error and it has been reported to the developers. Following on that there a large number of reports from Linux users. Not any Windows problems like that, so far as I know.

So that issue should be solved by now. Having at least one post tends to solve the problem with access to subforums after registering your game.

You can revert your game in Steam to an older version, as in this example: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...ollback-your-version-of-CK2-to-a-previous-one!

Probably incompatible.
You can't use a save file that safed in another more recent patch, but you could use one from 2.1 in 2.1 by reverting your game to 2.1.

The crash issue could be anything.
Better first post a new thread in tech support by describing your issue a specific as possible and if that happens on fresh games (started with the current patch) or an old one only.
Could be it's a Linux/ Mac specific issue, could be it's an issue with old save files, could be your files (especially DLCs) haven't updated properly.

edit: There had been several reports for Linux and Mac though and it's probably the issue that was mentioned above by hillcf.

Thanks for the feedback. If found the bug forum and added my report + savefile, maybe it will help someone. If this gets resolved then I will put steam in offline mode to force it the same version, to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Meh too bad Last 2.1 compatible save game is before I conquired spain and mauritania, and really don't want to do that again.. So I will wait it out or maybe start a new 2.1 game in that case.

I'm not sure if that might still work, but you could try to edit the patch version mentioned at the start of the safe file (uncompressed) to the one you like to play on.
It used to work, but i don't know if it still does. Especially since the introduction of tribal mechanics might break it.

Tried it just now with a save file started in 2.3 and it worked.
Changed version="2.3.0.0" to version="2.2.1.0".

edit: oh, sorry, 2.1 , right. Let's see..

edit2.... yup, doesn't work and made my 2.16 game crash as well.
