Shame that my first post here is a bug report. Still, greetings to you all. :)

My copy of Crusader Kings Complete Pack arrived yesterday by post and I took it with me to my workplace. It got installed with no major problems and the main menu of the game read "Deus Vult 2.1 beta". I started the game as Duchy of Brittany, but there was something bizarre. My heir had quite impressive stats for a 0-year-old and "Lustful" for a trait which was quite disturbing in more ways than that it shouldn't be possible in the game.

A friend of mine that is left to be unmentioned (DarthJF) suggested that I download the latest version of the beta patch. I did and it didn't help.

I believe that Vista which is the OS of this place's computer is the main cause for all the trouble, but the game should be working nonetheless. In fact it does work - only some features of the DV expansion (children having 0-stats while infants) aren't included.

Here's a screenshot.

Also, I don't seem to find the registration key anywhere on the game package. No booklet was supplied either. Where could I find it?

You did not install in Program Files did you?
Vista protects the system directories from writes by programs that are not run from a full (UAC-enabled) admin account. This will cause problems with CK/CK-DV as you will not be able to really patch the game.
I advise you to reinstall in C:\Games, that will avoid any Vista issues.

As for children having 0 stats -- that only applies to children born in game, not children already existing at scenario start.

I don't see a bug in this post anywhere.
My apologies. I'm not using Vista at home, so its demonic trickery came to me as a surprise. Oh, I knew it was evil, but this evil. Of course I installed the game in the default path, so in Program Files it went. I had no idea Vista might have problems with that - this really seemed like a bug to me.

Thanks for the info and sorry for the inconvenience. :)

To help clarify, I'm running Vista Home Premium on this laptop and I have no problems of this kind whatsoever. That's because it's my machine. Microsoft's implementation of User Account Control (UAC) is a recent development, not seen in XP, IIRC.

You installed at work - I'll bet you're not the Administrator for your machine at work, your network admin probably is.

I default install my games to Program Files on this machine and no probs - 'cuz I'm the Admin.
