Bought the game a few day ago.
Launched it, started new game, played for maybe 10-20mins
Exited game. Shut down my computer for the night.
Started the game up a few days later.
Created a new game.
Met with generic grey fog nebula background and whatever I do it stays that way.
Unable to move camera but it is slowly moving to the right (I can tell because i right clicked making a blue selection box and the box got longer on the left, eventually goes off the screen).

Clicking on galaxy map does nothing. Jumping to location of units or home world does not change anything. But the tutorial thinks it does.

The UI does work though. I can click on things. The tutorial starts going but the grey is all i see and steadily moving right.

Overall I am unable to play the game. It just stays that way every time no matter what ive done. Even the game that previously worked: the first one i started. when I tried loading that one it looks this same way, bleak grey. And every new game i create since has always been this way no matter what starting empire i pick ect.

Would appreciate any help I would love to actually play the game, been looking at it since before release. However, I have 1hr of play time already if i reach 1hr and 59mins without finding a solution before those 14 days I am going to get a refund.

Looks like unexplored territory.

Did you try unpausing the game to see if stuff will start popping out?

Otherwise I'd try reinstalling, verifying cache and starting another game.

Seems like some sort of very rare bug to me.

Unplug your console controller and try again.

AndrewT, I do have 3 360 controllers plugged into my pc =] is that a commonly what happens? Once its reinstalled I will unplug them.
Razzlie, unpausing doesnt change anything either. If unplugging the controls doesn't work after reinstall, how do you verify the cashe? That will help?

Congrats!

Also, for future reference, verifying cache on steam is done by right clicking Stellaris in your library, selecting "properties", navigating to "local file" and clicking "verify integrity of game files", it can come handy once in a blue moon if you get some weird issues with any game. Also in the "betas" section you can select 1.5.1 hotfix beta build, which has some essential hotfixes, I'd recommend having it.

Also plugged in controllers often cause strange problems with many games, you should definitely unplug them any time you get issues like this and see if it helps after you reboot your game.
