Tank Exploits no effect

It seems that the 'Tank Exploit Bonus' has no effect on actual battles against dug in troops. Experiment has shown - see the GD forum - that there is no change to the defender's Dug-In value, whether the attacking force has Tanks attached or not.

So the only advantage of Tanks is their high 'Shock' value, making them the early 20th century equivalent of Cataphracts - slow, very heavy, cavalry. :(

The Tank Exploit inventions appear to be hooks to unimplemented features.

I have NOT tested to see if the same is true for the equivalent Infantry bonuses (Infiltration effects, I believe).

Steve.

Here is a screenshot to verify the non-existent tank exploit bonus. This is from a 1.01 game. Sweden had Tank Experiments in 1895 and Tank Exploits in 1897. (Stormtrooper Training has also been invented.)

This is still a problem in 1.03.

Doesn't appear to be fixed in the beta as far as I can tell either. In a game where military research has pressed all the buttons for defense, but the technologically advanced game does not allow the barrel to help break down the logjam, the later historical battles/wars have a tendedncy to become ahistorical because possession becomes nine tenths of the law.

Spain cannot be dislodged from the Phillipines, the Boers become a ten year project, and the Great War starts out as a stalemate.
