Just watching CohhCarnage and saw what looks like a bug in salvage...

He had 2 salvage rights and chose 2 items...then changed his mind and dragged 2 others on top of the first two.

When he finished, he received all 4 items instead of just the final 2.

Somehow I don't think that's working as expected.

That wasn't a bug. That was part of the random salvage. It looked impressive, but keep in mind there were three pieces of Shadowhawk there in the pool.

The reason I think it's not random is he specifically got the 2 items he put up first.... that's stretching the laws of probability pretty far if it's truly random. There were a lot of other items he could have randomly gotten other than those 2 specific items.

Graygan means the part where Cohh originally picked 1 Quickdraw and 1 Shadow Hawk part instead of the 2 Jenner parts that also were available. After approximately the entire stream chat yelled at him to take the Jenner parts (because he already had 1 JN part in storage) he changed his mind and changed his priority salvage to the 2 JN parts. Then he hit done and got the QKD and SHD parts in the random salvage anyway. So either he was really really lucky or something is bugged and the game gave him those parts because they had been in the priority selection before being exchanged again.

Thank you Col. Klink, for clarifying for me.

That's exactly what I was talking about. It stretches the laws of probability for him to have received those exact two parts randomly.

On the other hand, hopefully one of the devs will read this and it should be super-easy to replicate. I have no clue how hard it'd be to fix it, though.

It clearly showed him what the result of his salvage choices was... ie., the items that got added to his inventory.

No, it skipped without so much as a "would you like to." screen. when he skipped through the screen. I remembered, as I was looking forward to the salvage screen in particular. (I remember this before Cohh salvaged a Jenner part)

It was amazing luck, no way to know if it was a bug currently without dev access.
There were a lot of chassis parts available and there might be some weighting towards them...

The salvage pool has a lot of partial mech bits.

He actually does remove the quickdraw and shadow hawk parts and puts the jenner parts into empty boxes. And gets 8 items total.
It can very easily be RNG.

I recall that event. So . . .

He managed to take out a lot and immediately wanted the Quickdraw part since it was a Heavy and he thought it was a good pick. He took the Shadow Hawk part because he was liking his 2H already. Stream chat suddenly lit up with "wait, no, finish the Jenner!" and he thought about it for a bit, then decided that was a good call, locked in the picks, then it picked the random picks and those two parts moved over. As he had as many parts as weapons/equipment - so it seemed - it threw in some random parts.

Which happened to be the ones he picked.

I'd still peg it for the devs to look at and see if there's something anomalous happening here regardless, since . . . that's what this period of time is for.

If so, that answers a long-standing question of whether random salvage would include 'Mech parts, or whether it would be "anti-prioritized" by your employer (i.e. you'll get heat sinks and like it).

True. He's also on an older version- the jenner had the SRM ammo in the arm again, and they fixed that after it first appeared on stream. So it could well be a known/fixed issue, assumed it isn't just RNG.

He just got lucky. The way salvage works is you get a number of priority picks out of the salvage, and then a number of random picks. Those numbers are controlled by the contract negotiation. 2/6 means 2 priority and 6 random. It just happened to pick some of the stuff he was interested in.
