BUG? restricted inheritance laws and I'm still losing vassals.

Hello! Departure with the Russian Empire. I have the laws of succession outside the kingdom restricted to the whole empire, and yet they do not apply to vassals, dukes, or kings. they seem only to work for the counts, where the primogenitos with possessions in other kingdoms if they are excluded. because of this I have come to lose the kingdom of Poland that has gone to the empire of Hispania T.T

I think restriction inheritance laws only apply on de iure territory, not in the facto, but I may be wrong.

Additionaly to above post, it won't stop, going by your example, the polish king to inherit a higher title and thus leave your realm.

You are right with the Polish king but it happened to me that one of my dukes inherited the independent kingdom of Lithuania and became independent. however, if this is only limited to vassals de jure it would make sense. Can someone confirm?

Your crown laws always apply to your de jure vassals, aside from that they also apply to non de jure titles in your realm of which no de jure title with a holder of your religion exists.

Your issue would however still occur in de jure vassals as the restricted inheritance rule only prevents foreign rulers inheriting titles in your realm and not rulers from your realm inheriting a higher title outside of your realm and leaving your empire that way.

Restricted inheritance prevents the king of Lithuania from inheriting your duchy. It does not prevent your duke vassal from inheriting the kingdom of Lithuania. Since Lithuania is a higher-tier title, he becomes independent.

What you could have done was grant that duke a kingdom, at which point he'd have stayed your vassal after inheriting Lithuania.

The crown law applies in de jure territory, and also in non-de jure territory whose kingdom doesn't exist or is held by an infidel. So it doesn't apply to Poland, most likely.

If someone inherits a title of a higher tier (king > duke > count) they become a vassal of the liege of the new title (or become independent if there isn't one).

The duke inherited an independent kingdom and thus should remain a vassal of the emperor.
Pretty sure that's how it used to work.

I just checked it in 2.7 and it works the same there as it does in the current version: a vassal inheriting a higher tier leaves the realm
(I checked by starting as the duke of Apulia, forming the kingdom of Sicily, giving my son a non de jure duchy (tunis in this case) and then making him swear fealty to the holy roman empire. I then killed my original ruler and let the son inherit Sicily. After this inheritance he was independent as the king of Sicily.)
