This is more of an oversight than a bug, I think: Reformed Norse rulers can't use the Holy War CB across sea zones until 1100. Just seems rather odd to me.

It's actually that nobody can use the Holy War CB across sea zones until 1100, unless it's against Muslims or Muslims attacking (potentially each other). I suppose that it is plausible that the Norse would be able to attack across sea zones, seeing as they get to do everything else with sailing. I will add an exception for them. NOTE: This means they will be able to Holy War across sea zones before Catholics get to do so against them, which might be imbalanced, but then again, if you're Reformed Norse attacking the Continent, well, that's probably fine that they can't strike back except if you actually win and establish a foothold. Crusades, of course, might get triggered (and then Great Holy Wars soon after).

EDIT:

This has been implemented. Here's the diff of this change:

Howdy folks! Been playing a really great Makedon Byzantium game. Got to about 989, about to have Despotate of Antioch de jure shift to the Empire so I'm happy.

Problem is, whenever I reach April 8, 989, the game CTDs. Save files are too big to attach but it's been pretty consistent. April 8, game dies without explanation.

For reference, copy of Version.txt:
Historical Immersion Project (2014-07-14)
Enabled modules:
ARKO Armoiries (2014-07-14)
ARKO Interface (2014-07-14)
Project Balance (v3.5.11 - 2014-07-14)
SWMH - Native localisation (v2.854 - 2014-07-14)
NBRT+ (v2.1 - 2014-03-28)
VIET Events (v1.6.2 - 2014-07-12)

Anyone have a clue what could be up?

This is usually a vanilla bug. Try reloading from an earlier save and playing through.

How does it mess up the AI's selection of retinues? We've used RETINUE_CONSTANT_COST for years. The Projected Monthly Cost is the constant cost + the reinforcement cost. Both are directly proportional to the retinue troop composition, so no particular retinue type could be directly preferred over another due to RETINUE_CONSTANT_COST.

It seems to be a vanilla bug, so it's really up to the Paradox devs to fix it. It's because HIP uses this value while vanilla doesn't that I attributed this bug to HIP. Whenever RETINUE_CONSTANT_COST is not 0, the "Projected Monthly Cost" would only show the monthly cost for the second type of the retinue (for example single unit retinues would show a monthly cost of 0, start as Norway in 1066 and you'll see.) It just so happens that AI uses the Projected Monthly Cost to choose retinues and it thinks Cavalry is the best retinue because it has the highest Projected Monthly Cost (200 light cavalry as its second type costs more monthly than most other retinue) so the richer rulers would almost always spam Cavalry.

The strange thing is it doesn't really affect the true monthly cost of the retinues, it just displays the wrong Projected Monthly Cost and messes with the AI. I'm guessing Paradox did something wrong on the formula for Projected Monthly Cost when taking into consideration the constant cost. Shouldn't be too hard of a fix.

Getting an odd CTD with this. I believe it is caused by an odd interaction with the Holy War Cooldown modifier. When I try to declare a Holy War, while having the modifier, the game CTDs while trying to generate the tooltip for the grayed out Send button, which should explain why I can't use that CB. I can provide a save if desired.

I had copied and pasted both the 00_religious.txt and PB_retake_religious_lands.txt from the raw files posted on Github, to replace the insides of the files that were in my "Historical Immersion Project\common\cb_types" folder.

Well, generally, you shouldn't copy/paste from your web browser into a CK2 file. This will tend to insert all sorts of special characters that the engine doesn't interpret properly. If one wants to replace a CB or some file with something out of the EMF beta, then they should download the current EMF beta as a ZIP from GitHub (button in lower right hand corner when on main EMF page, or when browsing through the repository) and just copy the files out of the ZIP directly. Then no funny business can occur.

After you've tried that (just drag the mentioned files directly out of the ZIP and overwrite), let me know if you still have problems.

Hi everyone.

I have a little problem. I've been playing with this mod for a while, but a few weeks ago the game started to crash to desktop. I think it started with the new version for 2.1.6.

The game runs perfectly and I can load a saved game with no problem. But while I am playing, the game crashes for no reason with "CK2 has stopped working. Windows is searching for a solution"

At first I thought that it was CDPI and CC Remix or Additional Objectives mod because I installed them recently, so I disabled them.
Then I read about VIET module and I reinstalled HIP but the game continues crashing. It seems that is HIP mod which causes problems.
Does any other module of HIP cause problems? It is strange because the game never crashed before.

It is quite frustrating because I am used to play with the mod and I can't even play a few months without crashing.

I'm using the last HIP versión.
This is the mods list that I have installed:

From this web

HIP
Family Relations v5
Additional Objetives for HIP
CDPI and CC Remix

From Steam Workshop

Abdication
Status of Women
Blind and Castrate for all
Mercernaries Mod
Monastery Decisión
Patron Deities
(VS) Mistress
(VS) Adoption
(VS) 16 new titular duchies
(VS) Council Mod
(VS) Historical Bloodline for Vanilla
(VS) Claim Your Ancestry
(VS) Unique Titular Titles
(VS) Birth Control
(VS) Army Leader Dynamic trait
Revoke All Titles Decisions
Your Personal Castle

Except the abdication and status of women mods, had other mods installed before the game started crashing.

Hope you can help me.

Thanks

Hmm. Well, reinstall HIP for now. I'm assuming your problems go away then? I'll have to look into whether the beta is crashing at this point, but I seriously doubt it's a mainline issue: seems like an issue with your install.

As far as I can tell, she's still located at the court she was in when I took her prisoner.

Here's a save. The prisoner in question is named Ahu.

Edit:
So you know, that save was made with all modules except for EMF active.

Hmm... Well, we haven't made any changes which involve moving around prisoners, and the actual imprisonment related commands are, of course, hardcoded, so I'm not sure what could be causing this. I'll keep an eye out for more reports, but for now I've no clue what could have caused it.

Hi everyone.

I have a little problem. I've been playing with this mod for a while, but a few weeks ago the game started to crash to desktop. I think it started with the new version for 2.1.6

Unfortunately, we can't really provide support for other mods, even when used in conjunction with HIP. Until CKII has proper logging tools (which will likely never happen anyway), it's difficult enough to isolate all the variables in HIP itself, never mind bringing in a dozen other mods; and it's far too difficult to even speculate about possible causes without intimate knowledge of all the mods in use.

The only thing I can tell you is that we don't have any confirmed CTDs in the latest version of HIP, and the last released version of Additional Objectives definitely has a CTD issue that appeared around the 2.1.6 release. Beyond that, I can only wish you luck in troubleshooting.

Moreover guest launched attack immidiately and for some reason I did not get vassal opinion modifier for defending against infidels.
I received the same event, as I posted on the previous page, and I'm an Emperor in Scandinavia.

Playing as a duke I had just been offered a council seat, and when agreeing to it (game paused) I rose in rebellion all by myself to lower crown levies. I was leading the autonomy faction at the time. I take it this is a bug?

Unfortunately I don't have a save to reprodouce this.

That's a vanilla event. I don't think we make any changes to it. Also, the defending against religious enemies bonus was removed because its bonus wasn't really doing anything and it seemed to be malfunctioning due to some kind of vanilla bug.

Neon people uprise from time to time.

This is apparently a vanilla issue.

Bonus allows you to get larger levies, more income if vassals had negative opinion on you, eliminates frictions with vassals. It's very important and very realistic, whole realm is defending against common enemy who's going to expel and kill everyone without mercy.

You're conflating two different mechanics. The first, which is the levy boost, actually didn't really help you due to how the game's levy mechanics worked and was also being improperly applied due to a vanilla bug. The second, the opinion bonus, is still present and functional, but is (and always has been) somewhat reduced from the vanilla value.

Say, is there a chance that the next version might fix the outliner's size issue? Currently, it extends a bit further left than the minimap and message mini-windows, which looks bad, and down past the mapmode buttons. For the latter, it either covers the mapmode buttons, or the mapmode buttons cover the bottom of the outliner, making one or the other difficult to use.
