This is the total number of troops I have when I start as Basil I in the 867 start.

ck2_2.png

And yet when I save the game and reload it, the number of troops I have from my own demesne decrease by a significant amount.

ck2_3.png

Also, the number of troops the Aghlabid Emir has is inflated quite a bit from their limit.

ck2_4.png

Any idea why this is happening? Or perhaps this is working as designed and I miss something in the changelog.

I think that it's a bug (or a feature?) related to the Theodosian Wall historical Great Work, it affects both garrison and levies exclusively in the Constantinople county and if you disable historical Great Works in the rules (in the Various section) the garrison and levies work properly.

EDIT: No idea about what's happening with the Aghlabid, though.

The latter has a simple explanation- raised levies are impervious to changes to maximum levies. If you're expecting every single vassal to revolt, you could raise all of their levies, then have them revolt. You'll keep their armies, despite the fact that your actual raised levies far outnumber your maximum. What likely happened is that the AI raised levies on day 1 (since they start at war), but due to having a particularly large demesne, had to give away land. The land they gave away now provides fewer levies than what they were getting from raising them themselves, resulting in that scenario.

Obviously, this is something that we couldn't even begin to deal with- it's entirely out of our hands.

I think that's not what is happening, the AI still has the original 9 counties that it gets from the history. Instead if you start a game with the Aglabhid emir you will note that he starts with raised levies, but the levies in his holdings are not depleted, s̶o̶ ̶h̶e̶ ̶c̶a̶n̶ ̶r̶a̶i̶s̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶m̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶a̶d̶d̶i̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶t̶h̶o̶s̶e̶ ̶s̶t̶a̶r̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶r̶o̶o̶p̶s̶, but he can't actually raise them. I think it's basically just a visual bug, he doesn't get more demesne levies than his maximum starting value. It can be checked out in the history file as well, he gets a raise_levies entry with a 1.5 multiplier.

Yes, this makes sense, although I'm still wondering whether it's actually intended by the HIP team or just an oversight. That historical Great Work bit on the other hand, seems to be a bug indeed if true. Sure I can just pretend it's a fun handicap but it seems weird that I don't have the same problem with other starts.

Are you sure that it only happens with that start? Yesterday I've reproduced it in the Basil II 1018 start, Golden 1 with no other mod and default installation except for no ARKOPack Interface and no CPRplus:

This is what happens in Constantinople when you reload:
TETlFLY.png

And I think that this issue persists through a campaign, I'm several years in my Isaakios Komnenos campaign and I still haven't fully garrisoned Constantinople.

About the issue with the troop count of the Aglabhid emir, I think that it's inherited from vanilla, you can reproduce it using no mod. It's confusing for sure, the human player might very well believe that the AI can raise more levies, but probably it can't be helped.

My apologies, you are right. I didn't check it thoroughly. The problem persists throughout the game if we use HIP, no matter when we save and load it.

Hi,

I noticed that game rule "generate families" does not appear at all. I tried with the attached version of the mod. Please advise if this is intentional, or a bug? If not a bug, will it be given back in the next update?

Nonetheless, apart of this, love this mod!

1. So, the AI (again) almost never ever raids at sea. Similar to what we had a few versions back - this appears to be a vanilla issue again!

2. Bacsecg's invasion of Mercia never happens since he doesn't embark on his ships. There seems to be some bug with those: I saw a few (11-ish) of his ships float around on the screen when looking in the Mediterranean. (EDIT: This may have been caused by some of the ports being misplaced in my map submod - EDIT2: Strike that, it still happens that he doesn't even set sail).

Is the legendary gathering not happening at 100% a bug or am I missing something? I had it happen more than a few times now and there were always 3+ heroes.

Also does anybody know how to make it go or reset? Cheat commands are unfortunately out as I'm playing ironman, but maybe some save editing?

I don't if it's a bug but hungarian duchy Ujavar has very weird de-jure borders
Not a bug, but despite historicity, we decided that we will not have discontiguous de jure duchies in the next major version of SWMH (the version which will break save-compatibility).

Not sure if it's a bug or WAD, but it's quite annoying. Whenever a minor with a betrothal goes into hiding, it breaks the betrothal. Also, the AI is terrible with coming out of hiding, often keeping themselves and their family in hiding indefinitely while the war has finished ages ago, sometimes even while having started new wars and what not.

Is there any way that I can mod the files to stop hiding from breaking the betrothal? the other stuff i can live with.

Mending schism as Bogomilists (Orthodox heresy) does not work properly. It converts Catholic rulers but does not make Orthodox or Catholicism heresies like it is supposed to. I tried it both before becoming independent from Orthodoxy and after dominating Orthodoxy, same result. Also a suggestion: allow to mend schism with Orthodox heresies without having ERE or Roman Empire.
