Noticed that in the HIP latest version playthrough (Duke of Luxembourg in HRE), the options to hold feast/summer fair disappeared from menu at some point.
Any suspect reason for it ?

Im wondering also if it has to do with previous ruler died of depression (poor sod) during or right after holding a feast...

That may be a 'do_not_disturb' setting. Ziijistark put a fix in the PB beta that should take care of it. If its not ironman you can look at the save to check. I'm not near a computer to be able to think of a console command that might clear it.

I'm have a total crash of CK2 whenever I use Historical Immersion Project. The problem seems to be whenever I save, load a saved game, or attempt to use Ironman mode. I have version 2.04 of CK2. I am using the HIP version released 2014-02-07. My Operating system is 64 bit, I have 8 Gigs of RAM, and a 2.5 GHz processor.

Don't know if this is from my HIP configuration (all modules except Immersion) or another mod I'm running, but when I was imprisoned and my realm was under a regent, I was able to change a law, even though had tooltip text saying that I couldn't change laws during a regency. If this is not a HIP issue I will see what other mod might be allowing this.

I notice that you say 'HIP version released 2014-02-07'. Do you mean 2014-02-17, the latest release?

1) Are you using any mods external to HIP? Is anything else checked in the CKII Launcher before you start the game? Look carefully at the entire list. If so, please list them.

2) Next, go to your HIP installation folder. By default, it's the 'Historical Immersion Project' sub-folder of your CKII mod folder, but it might be named something else if you chose a non-default folder name during your install; if so, it will fit the Launcher mod name's pattern of 'HIP - <your custom folder name here>'. Go to that folder. Now, there's a file named exactly version.txt in that folder (there may be others with similar names, but you want the one that is exactly version.txt). It contains a summary of your installed HIP mods, their versions, and their release dates. Please paste it here.

To help you, we need both the contents of your version.txt and which, if any, non-HIP mods are enabled (if you are using only HIP, then only one mod is checked in the CKII launcher). Both pieces of information are critical.

Thanks.

Not sure if it's a bug or just unclear.
Using all and SWMH, when you are playing with the Byzzies you have the empire reconquest CB, it states that you get all conquered provinces however just concluded a war against the Abbasids where i conquered about 5 full tiles and after the war ended (i won), i only got the reconquest target....

It probably has the wrong tooltip. I'll try to look into it before the next release, assuming you're also using Project Balance.

I'm using the latest version of HIP, installed through the exe file with yes to everything, and 2.04 of ck2. thoughts?

Well, let's see here...

1) I'm going to hereafter assume that you have tried running or will try running CKII the same way that caused this crash-- except with zero mods (not even HIP) selected in the launcher-- and it loads successfully, showing you a 4-letter checksum code next to the version number 2.0.4 on the lower left of the main menu screen. Perhaps you could share the checksum with us, or, better yet, achieve the same thing but much more thoroughly:

If you have a little time (3-7min) to let Steam verify your CKII installation's integrity (even though it loaded fine w/o HIP, I know), I would strongly recommend doing so just to help cover all the bases; it is automatic, after all. To do that: go to your Steam Library, right-click Crusader Kings II, select Properties at the bottom of that popup menu, select the Local Files tab at the top of the dialog which'll then pop-up, and finally click the Verify Integrity of Game Cache... button. Then surf the HIP forums to pass the time while Steam's scannin' an' a calculatin' your CKII install for any possible corruption. ;)

2) Now, I've presumed there's no corruption, and vanilla loads fine. Some starter thoughts:

For whatever reason, your HIP mod combo is somehow confusing CKII itself (not HIP, there is no actual executable code within HIP, just the separate installer) into trying to write to nonsensical locations in memory that either don't even correspond to real RAM or are protected (either way, it's nonsense). That's what the 'Exception Code: c0000005' business is all about (Virtual Memory Access Violation).

So I must ask myself, what is abnormal about your install combined with HIP? I do note that you are running Windows Vista SP2, an OS version for which I'm afraid HIP hasn't been officially tested, but in theory, it still should be fully compatible. [I mean, the thing runs on Linux and OS X.]

Paradox certainly isn't perfect, and mods' content trips bugs in their code all the time causing CTDs (though not so often in this way, for us at least). So, since you say 'Calculating Borders' was the stage at which it crashed, my mind wanders to NBRT+ (New Borders, Rivers, and Terrain Textures), of course. Did you select this mod when you installed HIP? It is on by default, so you would've had to explicitly say no. Let's find out.

Find the file <your mod folder>/Historical Immersion Project/version.txt (if you used an alternative installation folder name, then pick the version.txt out of that folder instead of Historical Immersion Project). Open it up, and copy/paste its contents here.

Then we'll know exactly what mods/versions are included in what you're loading. Do you see NBRT+ listed in that file, as I suspect?

3) Let's assume you do see NBRT+ on one of the lines of version.txt. Otherwise, we'll pick up where we left off later when you get back to me.

You're running Windows Vista SP2, apparently. I don't think we have too many Vista users. In fact, it's quite possible that one of NBRT+'s custom 3D shaders or some such is causing CKII to play poorly with your particular Vista + DirectX install in an outright incompatible way. Other Vista users of NBRT+, chime in if you exist and the combo does work normally for you, as I wouldn't know or be able to test whether it does myself.

Continuing down this hunch, let's reinstall HIP. Your goal will be to choose the same mods as you did before but exclude NBRT+ this time (either consult the old version.txt for the list, or cowboy it-- whatever).

Re-download the installer, make sure there is no old modules/ subfolder in your mod folder-- send it straight to the Recycle Bin if it's there, then unzip the contents of the .7z file you just downloaded directly into your mod folder, go ahead and overwrite any conflicting files, and once extraction is complete, double-click the fresh HIP.exe now sitting in your mod folder.

This time through the install, you're going to go extra carefully through the process to make sure we get this step right. This time, when it asks if you want to install to a custom folder name, hit ENTER for the default Historical Immersion Project. Keep going, and select the right mods when prompted. Watch out, though, as it's easy to just hit ENTER by accident and select NBRT+ (it's the default) when prompted about it near the end. Instead of doing that, type NO WAY at the prompt for Would you like to install NBRT+ (v0.1 - <some date>)? Once your rejection has been made crystal-clear to NBRT+, you're again allowed (encouraged, even) to hit ENTER. Freely, in fact. Finish the install.

Load up CKII. Make sure no mods are selected (none should be if you did step #1 all the way up there ---^). Now select HIP - Historical Immersion Project. Launch CKII.

Success? If the game loaded, unfortunately it won't have any of the beautiful borders, rivers, terrain, and other FX goodies that NBRT+ provides, but... it should otherwise run fine. If this fixed it for you, you owe it to me by now to let me know that NBRT+ is possibly broken on that version of Windows. Ok, fine, you don't owe me anything, but your feedback will be very valuable: as I said, this is not an officially tested version of Windows to be running with our mod, and this could affect more users than you, possibly in more subtle ways depending upon the mod combination, your 3D drivers, etc.

4) If none of that worked, you must report back with that version.txt for further thoughts.

Yeah using PB as well
It states when pressing "Enforce demands" => Basileos takes all occupied territories....
But I can vouch for the inaccuracy :)
UPDATE:
Yeah, I was wrong-- twice. The tooltip is broken for several CBs, as it is shared amongst them, and has been for so long that it'd actually fooled me into thinking the stated mechanic applied to some of those CBs in a past iteration, but no such past functionality to match exists. The tooltip will be fixed and adjusted on a CB-by-CB basis.

Thanks for pointing this out! It's difficult for the long-term Tooltip-Affected to recover from the fallacious premises setup by constant exposure to bogus and mismatched-- but very consistently so-- associated logic. In other words, can I have my couple hours back now? :p

UPDATE II:
This and a bunch of other related, relatively minor but clarifying CB success effect tooltip elaborations / consistency fixes are now committed to my repository and will be in PB Beta in probably a few hours. Thanks again for pointing-out what turned-out to yield a slew of related usability improvements / more polish.

Thanks Zijistark! I think you're right about my os just being old and crappy (and 32-bit.) I didn't try it without NBRT, but instead just went into the settings file and turned on low-res textures. It loads fine now, although I wonder if I'm missing out on cool NBRT stuff that isn't designed for low-res textures. But it sounds like I'd miss out anyway, so oh well. Thanks for the time and a funny tech support post.

Now that I am back at a computer I can look....

Edit the save? or you could execute the cancellation of the feast in the console?

event 72113

I get the same error an annoying amount of the time...I traced the error...its `generally` tournaments , or kings feats never actually being completed. Tournaments just don't work at present, even when they finish, you don't get the + ratings with vassals. Thus your ruler is flagged as still attending a tournament or kings feast until he dies...therefore stopping you from holding any hunts, fairs or feasts yourself...a right royal pia ;)

Can anyone tell me exactly which files I need to copy for the fix ziijstark did pls, as I have heavily modified many files [defines.lua in partic] I would just like the duel_engine / tournys fix

many thanks

No problem, and thanks for taking the time to figure this all out
but hmm not sure if this is a bug or just a REALLY unlucky event on my part...
I'm trying to reforge the Roman Empire but during a civil war my Hungarian Friends decided to take back a de jure part of the Byzantine Empire and....
Promtly gave a barony to the Knight's Hospitaller... so even after the reconquest I have the Knights in my kingdom and no access to my tier 3 CB's

Solution??
The only thing I can think of is making Orthodoxy the new catholicism and hope they become orthodox? or at least open to a holy war??
Is there another solution???? Since i prefer keeping the catholics alive

But this demonstrates one little annoyance with the Reconquest CB's... it should be enough to have the Katepano title for those CB's to progress... I've got about 3 churches spread out in my Sicilian despotate wich require me to go to war with the papal army every 10 years, just to get one church back...

Frankly I would suggest moving all of the files that you modify for yourself into your own mod so that you don't have to reprogram it every time a change comes out. It also makes it much easier to troubleshoot when an error occurs.

Yes - the tournaments were seen as the most probable culprit and thus the changes Ziji put in. Normally I would recommend the changes above for your mod and then say just drop the PB-Beta in to get the fixes. And frankly, it is the cleanest way to really do it. Trying to pull just those changes back out and the specific files would be - complicated - and probably not really recommended.

EDIT:
nvm it works itself out, vasals will attack the knights and since they won't fight against non-heathens they just lose :p
