Hi, I'm having a problem installing HIP on linux.

Code:
[kris@archlinux ~]$ cd ~/".paradoxinteractive/Crusader Kings II/mod"
[kris@archlinux mod]$ python main.py

Unexpected fatal error occurred:
Traceback (most recent call last):

File "main.py", line 582, in getPkgVersions
    g_versions[mod] = unicode(open(f).readline().strip())
NameError: name 'unicode' is not defined

Screenshot/copy this error and send it to the HIP team. Press ENTER to exit.

Run `python main.py -V` (same thing: in your mod folder, just add the -V) to get detailed Python and other version information, and paste it here, please.

I’m not sure that’s what ziji meant to ask for, but it works well enough. HIP’s main.py uses Python 2, not Python 3, but Python 3 is the default on your system. Get a Python 2 somewhere and run that instead: "path/to/python2 path/to/main.py" Or, if your distro plays nice, just "python2 main.py".

BTW, those are the kinds of errors you’ll get any time you try to run Python 2 code on Python 3. It’ll talk about "unicode" and "bytes" and such things.

Been playing the horse lords version, there's a few oddities and I suppose minor bugs I noticed, but nothing really serious.

And then this happened : (see the uploaded file)

It's not a particularly major bug, but my liege was sending me to fabricate a claim on Ionia every single day. For the like 6 months the revolt took. And I imagine every single character that wants to fabricate a claim does this as well. Could this cause some slowdown? It, at the very least, causes spam.

My game was consistently crashing (repeated about 20x) on Jan 1, 950. I have managed to resolve this for myself but still thought I should report.

At first I assumed it was a problem with the autosave, but I disabled autosaving and it isn't that. Going back to old saves as far as 18 months back also did not remedy the situation, and the difference in circumstances from the two "timelines" would make crashing on Jan 1, 950 every time an unlikely coincidence. I also searched through the event files to see if anything was scripted to happen in that year. All I found were the Turkmen conversion events and commenting those out also didn't seem to work, nor did doing a full reinstall of HIP.

Ultimately I managed to advance the calendar by loading a save from December 949 and switching characters from e_byzantium to some random character in west africa. The only observable event I noticed during this sucessful run was a firing of the "Rise of the Shia event". Hope this helps somehow.

Hey guys, just a quick bug I you may already know about. Whenever I'm at war with someone, (King of Italy for me) if he gets a peasant revolt it spawns about 500-2000 event spawned troops for myself on top of the revolt stack. They end up getting destroyed, but still, it's kinda' weird.

i have a similar issue where when i complete a tributary war near the Byzantine empire i get spawned retinue randomly. later in the game they teleport to other areas of the map. i took some pics but they dont really show much.

Is the invasion casus belli intended to work only for the Golden Horde? The tooltip says it's a part of the population mechanic, so wouldn't it make sense to have it working for all hordes?

Update to this, I noticed after playing another year or two that some of the portrait gfx (notably the byzantine military garb which I had been wearing) had switched from the "early" versions to the standard ones. Perhaps this is related.

Is there any way to undismiss the "educate child" shield notification? I can't find the option to put it back.

Probably already reported, but I'm running the latest full version of both HIP and CK2 with HL and its DLC (as well as all the other portrait DLCs) and I'm seeing a lot of missing portraits. It looks like nearly all Levantine culture characters have no face, an occasional Bedouin has no face, and in the newest portraits some nomadic women have faces, but no nose or mouth (smoothish texture below the eyes).

*Edit*
My bad, I thought I saw CK2 Plus for whatever reason.

There hasn't been any report like this so far, and I have yet to see something like this happen in my campaign that has lasted for 40 years. Could you check if you have all the graphic files in gfx/characters? For starters, check to see if contents in gfx/characters/levantine_male load up correctly.

Possible bug with byzantine imperial reconquest specifically relating to duchy of Latium... After a successful peasant rebellion, a monothelite feudal county of Tusculum became independent. I used imperial reconquest on Tusculum, but when I won I gained the entire duchy, thus accidentally conquering the Pope.

edit: and now the Pope has launched a "claim on Latine" war against me despite the fact he has no holdings or troops.

Okay, sure, but I'm sorry, I honestly don't know what files those are supposed to be. Is there like a list of what should be there? Would screenshots help? How would I check to see if it's loading up right? I'm rather inexperienced with CK2 modding, so I don't really know how if there's a log for that sort of thing or what to look for in that log (since I imagine there must be).

I did just check my load order, the only thing that affects character portraits that I can see there is Better Looking Garbs, but I don't think that would be the issue, as the clothing is all right, it's purely the faces themselves. That said, I did disable it, not sure why I was using it anyhow, and tomorrow I'll boot it up and take some screenshots (it's 1 AM here and I need to get up in the morning).

That was the issue. ;) CPRplus and BLG modify pretty much the same files, so there is bound to be conflicts everywhere. In the case of the Levantine face, the problem is that CPRplus loads up its own Levantine face, while BLG loads up default Byzantine face. Portraits that don't overlap will not glitch, but those that do like the Levantine portrait will glitch out like that.
