Not sure if this is a bug but it certainly isn't WAD, at least i hop it isn't. My orthodox empire was practically the entirety of italy and almost all of france, in normandy and many northern provinces was the replacement dynasty of the ummawiyyun's (sp?) the pope called a crusade for the kingdom of france against the muslims and after 6 years (seriously long crusade) the catholics won and took the entirety of dejure france, stealing my kingdom and many of my vassals. I was given a claim and took it back immeadiately but i was still furious at the fact they had taken my title AND force converted so many of my vassals!

It's WAD with any of the crusade CBs that exist (vanilla, EMF, other mods). If the title has a preexisting holder but holder doesn't match the religion of the Crusaders, they still usurp the title. Crusaders are nasty, nasty brigands.

That’s actually a pretty cool outcome. It’s nice to see the Orthodox get screwed by a crusade once in a while… considering how ahistorically irrelevant they usually are to the (Levantine) crusades.

Not sure if bugged. Playing as ERE, 1257. Trying to restore Roman Empire. I have one more kingdom to 'liberate', the Kingdom of Ifriqiya, but I don't seem to have CB for it, although I have TIER 4 reconquest available and all other Kingdoms under tier 4 had the right CB.

Ideas?

Don't seem to be any problems with the CB enabling all duchies under k_africa at tier 4 (checked EMF+SWMH), as long as you have 500 prestige and the usual. I suspect something else is amiss beside the CB. Am I right in assuming that you're playing EMF+SWMH?

Bug: started as Heinrich Salian in the 1066 scenario. Matilda of Canossa rebels, I crush her rebellion, put her in my nice dungeon.

So you locked yourself in... Hey, it happens. I once locked myself out of the house. There are worse things, like banishing yourself from your empire. :p

Thanks for providing your version.txt, because it solved your problem: you're using HIP from 2014-12-07. That was the last release done for CKII v2.2, aka pre-WoL and no longer compatible with the latest version of the game.

This is apparently a vanilla bug. You can fix it, assuming you've just got the modifier and aren't actually in prison, by opening the console and typing the following:

Code:
event 50007

Just take the option that presents and it should clear off the modifier. If you are also imprisoned, release yourself first by running event 50001 and then run 50007. (Hopefully this will get fixed in the next vanilla patch. They're fixing so much else, I'd be surprised if it isn't.)

I just tried using ruler designer and didn't have any issues starting a new game. Could you post the contents of your version.txt file so we know which modules you installed? Also, because that last entry in your error log is kind of weird, were you trying to play an ironman game when it crashed? Or is that savegame it mentions from a different game?

NBRT+ (v2.1 - 2014-03-28)
VIET Events (v1.9.5 - 2015-05-05)

I was trying to play ironman ( as I always do to prevent myself from editing the game).

( I can add that I did play earlier today but reinstalled with what I assume a newer version of HIP, after the reinstallation the error occured)

And you started a new game after you installed the latest version of HIP?
But regardless, it looks like there may be an issue with character encoding in the auto-generated ironman savegame filenames. I'm not entirely sure whether it's related to HIP or not. At any rate, I suggest trying to play as the same realm again, and with ruler designer, but changing the ironman savegame filename to something custom and without special characters.

In two of my recent playthrough I've encountered several never ending faction wars (some for Elective, some to lower CA, some for Seniority) against AI lieges (luckily never against me). The rebels just don't surrender even if the warscore is at 100%. This is rather annoying as the AI keeps on committing all their troops to those rebels and lose against other enemies.

One time the Byzantines lost the whole Kingdom of Armenia to the Muslims just because 1 Duke didn't want to give up his revolt even with all his territories besieged and zero troops left. Is that a common problem?

This doesn't quite make sense to me. Why would the Byzantines lose a major invasion because of an AI duke that had zero troops left and all his holdings sieged? I mean, if nothing else, it just says that "yeah, there may be some weird kind of problem with AI surrender weights or the undecided war mechanic, but obviously those byzantines would've lost anyway if the duke actually had 0 troops and 0 unoccupied holdings.

I will keep your report in mind, but I have not noticed any similar behavior and have been watching quite a bit lately. The AI always rather sucks at efficiently concluding wars, especially if there are multiple.

Further information (as specific as possible) on any thing else abnormal you see along these lines would be very welcome. Thanks.

What I mean by they are losing because of them, is simply the AI sits with 12k troops on the Rebels provinces who are are to 100% besieged meanwhile they completely ignore other enemies (such as the Muslims in this specific incident). I sadly don't have any screenshots at hand but will make sure to make some the next time I encounter it.

The only way to resolve this was if the AI somehow managed to capture the rebel's leader (I had to murder two consecutive rulers of one french revolt so that the following heir who was captured in battle beforehand would be the ruler).

Definitely seems like a vanilla issue (largely because we have almost no control over the related logic), and I've heard of it before with CK2Plus (so I assume it just affects everyone off and on). Here's hoping that patch 2.4 will include fixes for such behavior.

I will, however, keep my mind open to any ideas that might pop into my head regarding how certain settings in EMF which might contribute to this or that could help if changed. It really does sound like the military AI is misfiring pretty fundamentally, though.

Alright, I guess there is not much to be done then. Thanks for the swift reply. :)
