I set up a popular metro circuit. I received a notification that my ticket prices were too low. I go to the ticket prices window. I see that the Metro monthly ticket price for all zones is deep blue. I raise the price to remove the notification. The monthly price for all zones (bottom-right-most corner) is capped at 500 money units per month. The game still requests that I raise the price, even though I cannot (it is still light blue at 500 money units per month and I occasionally get a "ticket prices are too low" notification).

As a side note, it seems that if the ticket prices are there to notify the player of potential issues with each line, it seems redundant to have both daily and monthly ticket prices to change. It is twice the work without any added benefit since the game apparently calculates the monthly price by multiplying the daily price by 30.

The top price is per trip not daily. So if your lines are such that sims ride them 2 ways your monthly should be a little under 2x the top price. If your lines are good enough that the sims can ride the same line several times a day then your monthly could be 3x-4x the top price.

Thank you for explaining that. If that's the case, it seems like it would be more useful to have a per-trip price that the user can (and has to) change to match the economic needs, but then have a second indicator of how often citizens ride the same line in a day. That way the player would only need to edit one price rather than two and still gain the same amount of information.

That would be nice, you can get kind of close to that with the graph that shows how many people but what kind of tickets. I can't remember it's name but it's in the data panel. That said, I don't think that info is available even in the real world. I think the ambiguity exists even in real life.
