Why does multiplayer game continue to reload for players?

I'm trying to set up a game, and it just keeps reloading the game to each player. Gets up to completion almost, then drops down to base and starts over again . . . maddening.

Any help appreciated.

my experience is that the game keeps reloading over and over only when we use the autosave...but it works fine with other saves ??

I'm pleased to see this thread was moved to the proper forum! Hopefully it'll get its due attention here. This isn't in the list of bugs at the top of the thread, and I know that it should be #124 or #125 or something like that.

there is a problem with the autosave getting corrupt will be resolved in 1.03 by making a backup of the autosave file. However, about that MP thing I don't know...

The extension is .bz2. I'm not certain, however, if deleting that file is what fixed it, or if 'good luck' fixed it. Maybe it would have worked if I hadn't deleted the bz2 file, or maybe not. I'm not certain. I have noticed a degree of unpredictability in this program.

For example: a saved multiplayer game is composed of three files:

France.eug
France.eug.cfg
France.bz2

Actually, I've run into several problems re-loading saved games multiplayer - possibly related.

I tend to save my game 2-3 times to different files just to make sure I have a good one. You'll know whether it will work right away because when someone joins and it starts the file compression, normally this will take about 15 seconds, while when the bug occurs it usually takes no time (obviously fails somewhere).

I've "fixed" this problem by having everyone exit the game and re-enter. Failing that, loading the game in single player mode, saving it to a new file, and loading that file multiplayer works (I do this by habit if we're restoring from an autosave).

My guess is the file you're refering to has compression-data in it, and by deleting it you cause the program to re-do the compression - Which (just guessing) seems to be the problem with the never-ending load cycle.

Anyway, just my $0.02.

By the way, I rarely see anyone from Paradox scanning this forum - Do these bug reports ever get to them or should we re-post these sort of bugs on the bug-forum?

we are making a list of the bugs and we post them into bugzilla, our bug reporting tool or we submit them in the beta forum for further discussion.

not everything is going to get fixed I fear, but at least, Paradox is made aware of this and will fix most of them in time.

An update on this:

Deleting the BHZ file does fix this problem.

This is particularly a problem when restoring an Autosave game, as any previous restoration has already created a BHZ file, and this old file is neither deleted when a new autosave is saved nor recreated when the game is continued.

In other words, the second time you load an autosave game in multiplayer, the game will always fail to load until you delete the BHZ file.
