Plane and manual retreat = rebasing

I wanted to send my US strat bombers deep into germany, but already one province inland from the belgian coast I ran into some heavy fighter cover. Battle ensued and immediately thereafter I right clicked on the english channel so that my planes would retreat.

Now...some brittish forces had landed in France, just north east of paris, and instead of my stratbombers flying back to their original base in england, they went ahead and landed in that liberated french province. And I did not click that province when retreating or anything like that. This has happened a few times after with them landing in different provinces.

So the result is that I have to rebase my bombers to get them back to safety across the channel. And as far as I understand it, a retreating air unit should retreat to their base of origin.

Anyone else encountered this?

Should they always retreat towards their base? I reckon they shouldn't retreat into enemy territory, and that was fixed a while ago. But I think they CAN retreat in friendly territory

I would think that the intent of the retreat should be as follows:

Bombers set out to bomb a target, but oh no, the resistance enroute is way too tough, lets return to base boys and try again tomorrow.

The 8th air force landing on a beach head in France because they cancelled a mission doesn't seem like the correct response.

And just incase you didn't read my first post in full, or I was unclear about it. My strat bombers actually LAND in that french province. So I object to the fact that my bombers who set out from england, would land in another province than the one they set out from.

Maybe the cause, of what I regard as a bug, is that when you retreat with planes, they get "bumped" into a neighbouring province before making their way home. If that neighbouring province is friendly, they unintenionally(?) land in that province instead of just getting bumped to it before making their way home to their original base.

So I don't have a problem with them retreating deeper into enemy territory, no, that worked fine, it's the landing part that bugs me.

Then I would humbly suggest that it hasn't been fixed completely.

I have eliminated scores of American and British bombers that were flying into my fighter cover over Amsterdam, lost the battle, and retreated to Eindhoven, where my second stack of fighters finished them off.

I have seen similar crazy aircraft retreats elsewhere. It seems that retreating aircraft have a tendancy turn turn right 90 degrees and head towards the province they then point to, regardless of who owns that province.

lol, I'm a house pet since EU I. But in this case I'm merely following procedures, going through the allmighty Vulture. ;)

And you're doing a good job btw, sometimes when me rant about bugs here and there and you go through all these posts asking for clarifications and probably receiving doublets and triplets of reports...well, you probably get credit elsewhere, but getting some from the user community is also nice. So I take this chance to give you a pat on the back, and say "Good job Vulture, keep it up".
