Perpetual Night

I did a search and couldn't find this, sorry if it's known.

I noticed in a 1.03 MP game I was in last night that some battles I would enter would always give the nighttime penalty, 24 hours a day. One of my allies in the game said that it had happened to him as well in that game, and that it also happened before in other games.

Is this known, or do you need more information?

Sad to say, but if you live in northern scandinavia it IS dark 24 hours per day for about a month during winter. No clue if that could be the answer to your bug, but if it was in some northern scandinavian country and in december, it's just some pretty decent coding :)

2 full years of snowing doesn't happen though, he he.

I can understand Scandinavia, but this happened to me in southern France.

Vulture, if it happens again in a game I am playing I will save it. The situation:

- Group of 5 UK inf div's attacked 1 Ger inf div in southern France. 24 hour night.
- 2 UK tank divs attacked 1 German inf in neighboring province, day and night went by fine
- Same 5 UK inf div's attack the province one south of previous, again 24 hour night.

I know that that is crap to go on, like I said next time I will get a save.

I ran across this bug again tonight in a MP game. I was USA, had just gotten into the war and had my first naval battle off Tokyo. It stayed night for 24 straight hours, forcing me to retreat. Then a couple days later I invaded some islands near the Bikini Islands, and it game me the nighttime penalty for a couple of days straight. The weather otherwise was clear. I saved the game in the middle of the battle, but when I reloaded it, the problem had disappeared.

Same MP game, it happened again on an amphib invasion on the islands south of the Bikini Islands in the pacific.

I play as the USSR a lot, and have never noticed it playing as that country. However, whenever I play another country it seems to happen quite frequently.

The first time I saw this bug, the French player mentioned to me that he saw this happen to him before, but I haven't heard of anyone else having this problem since. If anyone else has had this happen, please speak up! :)

Ok Doomdark desperately wants to fix it... However, he hasn't got any luck reproducing it. Some betazoids have seen this bug as well. Problem is we can't use savegames since this bug seems to disappear after reload...

So if you have a heart for HOI, help us... We need very detailed minute conditions for this bug to happen. If you have a case with this bug occuring try to described exactly what happend, what time of day it was, etc etc.

Pls all help appreciated

Bugs I've seen in MP

Continual Night

1. Continual night happened during an MP game we had two days ago. Russia (Tomar) was complaining that he was getting slaughtered by the Japanese in some Soviet Far East Province. He's gripe was that it was continually night and upon a MP crash and a reload, the bug went away and he won...... so i would say that this is a very critical bug. However, I've never experienced it myself.

Movements

There are still movement Bugs in the game, mostly with Naval and Air, though it does occur sometimes with Land Units. Sometimes, the units do not move to the designated province because;

a. The movement into the said province brings up 'Move into' Screen and the time stated is 3 months from current date.
b. The fix for the above is to move the time into the province to the earliest possible date. However this creates the movement bug. Said units will be trying to travel into the province, but never moves.
c. Another way the bug occurs, it just that it plain doesnt enter into the said Province. Period. This occurs if the 'Move Into' screen doesnt pop up. The way around it is to stop movement and try to move to the next adjacent province. Sometimes this doesnt fix it. But basically keep trying to move into the next, and the next adjacent province till that blue line starts to show.

Combat

1. In Combat, reinforcing units do not engage in the current battle. Occasionally it does, but most times it doesnt. they just sit in the province till its lost. In which case they become out of supply and then engage the units who won the battle.

2. Its difficult to bomb Ports. Its like the luck of the draw. Sometimes when bombers bomb ports, they engage the garrison instead. This occurs most times.

Out of Oil

Units still have the Out of Oil Bug, and it happens very often. To counteract this bug, you just have to 'create new' army/navy/air, but this results in the creation of a 'zero' unit. To get rid of the 'zero' unit...you have to 'merge' army/navy/air...but this just creates the 'Out of Oil' problem again........................So the only way is to Move..units (zero Unit) included into an adjacent sea/Land province and do the merge thing. However, the Out of Oil thing may still occur..................... Worst yet, sometimes the 'zero' unit is of the unmovable type.................. and because of this bug....units that try to move...will be out of oil and therefore is unable to move...or moves too slowly....resulting in the damaging of the ship/land/air unit. This is a waaaaay critical bug.

Upgrade Bug.

This confuses me.....On Land units, the Upgrade option always flashes up...eventhough Infantry/Motorized Infantry/Mech Units get automatic upgrades (or am i wrong on this?)

This choice is given to Tank units too (for brigaded units).....

For Naval Units, upgrading a Pre-War Dreadnought to a basic 150mm BB will no longer be available in 1.04 right?

But how about upgrading the Pre-War Dreadnought to a Pre-War Dreadnought? the values do change due to technology......is this a bug or is it considered 'really' upgrading the ship?

Anyways, great game guys......but needs work...still
