Hi all, I just fought an opponent who had a gauss rifle (part of a flashpoint), and they lost an arm/torso (forget which, obviously both if torso) when I hit the ammo bin with a crit.

My memory from the tabletop days said that shouldn't happen, so I searched the forums and only found one bug report from more than a year ago, and that had no replies.

Just curious if anyone knows what the HBS position is on this; is it a bug that they just haven't gotten around to fixing yet, or did they decide to deliberately make it / keep it the way it is?

Technically I believe it is the Gauss Rifle itself that should be able to explode when critical hit not the Ammo but I suspect rewriting the code for just that one weapon was more work than it was worth so they just left it.

That sounds extremely reasonable, but are you guessing, or did they actually say that at some point?

Edit: Whoops, disregard that question, I see now you said "suspect". :) I should read more carefully before reply. Sorry. :)

It has been discussed before. I don't remember an official dev response on the matter. It should be the rifle not the ammo that explodes, but coding a special exception to the standard ammo explosion rules for two very rare items probably isn't the highest priority.

I hope that it is on someone's list of quality of life improvements to get to, but at the same time it isn't high on my list of desired improvements.
