Bug or Misunderstanding? I am baffled.

Help me understand what is going on here.

My wife is the Duchess of Normandy. I am King of Leon. My vassal "Prince Amaury of France" has a weak claim on the Duchy of Normandy. Prince Amaury resides in my Kingdom and holds no other titles outside my Kingdom. Two things I don't understand.

1. How an AI count in France is pushing my vassals claim on the Duchy of Normandy when my vassal does not reside in his court?

2. When the AI count defeats my wife the Duchess of Normandy, he imprisons her, and my vassal Prince Amaury becomes independent within my Kingdom. I don't get this.

Faction war. Because factions are strange and wonderful butterflies. Or rather, it doesn't appear to matter where the claimant hides out, as long as there's a claim, there seems to be plotting going on. Which is why I've started offing everyone and their brother. And sons obviously. Some daughters. Offing loads of people at least.

I have no such faction listed in my realm. If it is a faction, it started outside my realm and I would have no way of knowing about or protecting against it. Shouldn't I have got a faction warning since it involved one of my vassals?

Sorry, should have been more precise, yes a faction war in whichever country did the deed, probably France or England. And you probably should get a warning (but I think it's WAD, an oversight in that case). Check by saving and reloading as the King of France.

I reloaded as France and England and see no faction for what took place. I loaded up the count that was attacking my wife and I see no faction. I will try loading the game as some of the other dukes nearby and have a look.
