I tend to check other countries' progress through their national focus trees as I notice that every time a chinese minor aligns with the KMT and then does the "Join Nationalist China" Instead of being annexed by China, they annex China.

This ruins the game because...

1. In the middle of a big war against Japan (for example), China can be annexed.

2. When China has been puppetted by Japan, China can get annexed, effectively releasing China and making the war for nothing.

3. China's focus tree gets reset every time, so they lose all their progress on their foreign diplomacy tree and can never accomplish anything significant.

4. By 1942 there are six versions of China that have cores on all of China, so puppeting regions instead of the whole of China because impossible without console cheats.

There may be other details I'm missing but those were the big ones making me annoyed with the situation in Asia. I've played a couple games now and every time all of these things happen.

Everything would be a lot simpler they just got annexed into China instead of trying to become China.

I noticed the same in my Japan game, Nationalist China would get annexed by three separate warlords, each time when it was quite close to capitulation. The warlord would then "change" into Nationalist China shortly after, and get annexed again a few months later by a different warlord.

On one hand it was pretty weird and unexpected, and it also (I believe) wreaked havoc on my front line as troops/territory would suddenly be encircled in weird ways (which was doubly frustrating given how many more generals are needed to reassign orders and plans across a clusterfrack of border gore), but it also felt somewhat historical in that China ought to be chaotic to invade.

I haven't played as a Chinese country myself yet, so can't speak from that perspective.

EDIT: Also just realized this is in the main forum, and should probably be in the HOI4 section

I must have mis-clicked the forum when creating the thread :p

How can I get a moderator to put this where it belongs?
