[Bug] Old Man dies before the voyage

I got the event to voyage to old Valyria and I believe at about the same time I used the decision to dismiss courtiers. I'm fairly sure this caused the old man to die, but the event seemed to have continued. I departed with the dead old man, and then we started that war game where I now appear to be stuck in limbo as the dead character cannot get events.

I ended up fixing it after a year of waiting for an event, by marking someone else in my court as the old man. Not sure if it was luck, or something else, but I got a crippled dragon and a sword. All is well that ends well.
