COT Bug ???

Hey all..

Ive been playing a MP game with a friend of mine. As Portugal ive colonized east india and so on. A COT has appeared in Jakarta. This COT generates a TON of money, ive put trade embargo on most nations around the COT, so i always have monopoly and there is never any other traders than mine in the COT. My trade % is at 101%, so i should generate a bit more than what the COT is worth. Now, here comes the problem. The value i have in my COT changes, even though there are no other merchants there. The value of the COT remains mainly the same, around 1100D, sometimes i get the correct value, which is something like 1200D, but most of the times i get only like 600 - 800D, for no apparent reason, it cant be pirates, as i have ships all around the Jakarta province. The top value of the COT remains mainly the same, aboive 1000D, but as i said, my value in the COT changes. Is this a bug, or some strange feature of the game which i have no idea what it is ?

CoT's are dynamic. Provinces under siege don't send their trade anywhere. Action in other CoT's may add or remove provinces from this CoT. Pirates affect the source provinces from trading, so your ships around Jakarta don't make any difference.

It's probably some combination of these factors...

Ok, the value i get in my COT seems related to the following.

When going to a city and putting my courser over how much it generates in its COT i get this msg.

" This province is overseas and we only gain 66% of its trade value. 33% of your home ports are blockaded"

So, what the hell does this mean ?

It means one of your home ports (a port on the continent where your country's capital is) is blockaded.

I'm *guessing* that you have only 3 home ports and thus only 1 is blockaded. But maybe you have 6 and it is 2; etc.

Cool feature though; I never knew that blockading a country's home ports would strangle their overseas trade!

And another thing, the " This province is overseas and we only gain 66% of its trade value. 33% of your home ports are blockaded" text, is also shown when going to my core provinces in Tago and ect. And nobody is blocking my ports there either, i have no idea whats going on.

Check with VKV's Economic FAQ in the FAQ Forum. I forget whether trade income is subject to modifications, especially from stability.

But, that blockade thing sure looks suspicious...

OK, maybe a save game would be helpful. Take a save, zip the .eug file (very important!) and send to StateMachine@bigfoot.com.

Pretty wierd. Your save game had the condition active. I ran for a year or thereabouts and the condition "fixed" itself. There is nothing in the game or save files to indicate that blockades are occuring. They are not occurring. The income loss was consitent. Anyplace you had traders out of Europe, you were only getting 2/3 of the trade money.

The only thing happening when the condition fixed itself was that a revolt occurred in one of your provinces. I played for a while longer, but no revolts occurred (to see if that toggles the condition for some reason). Bah! I should have used some cheats. Oh well.

I'll pass this on to Paradox. It's bug 212.

Nope, a nice, well ordered country. Capitol in Lisbon. Extensive African, Indian, and Indies holdings. In a war vs Netherlands (with Spain), but not fighting it - Spain's doing that. Netherlands just in Europe and very weak. All owned provinces appear to be controlled (eyeball inspection).

All in all, everything is normal. I checked out the save file pretty closely and couldn't find anything.

Ahh, these are the good bugs. I'm sure Paradox will have fun with it. :D [stated by an ex-programmer]

Not that either. To my experience, pirates affect trade by reducing the amount provinces next to a sea area with pirates, not the CoT, but who knows?

BTW, I used cheats like pappenheim and such so I could see everything.
