I'm not sure if this is a bug or feature with 2.2. In the early/mid game, my space otters signed a migration treaty with a race of space lizards that had the same planet type habitability. Other than my homeworld, I had two colonies with 14 and 8 pops to start with. After the migration treaty, 3 pops grew from the alien lizard species in a row on both colonies. Not wanting my original species to become crowded out so quickly, I abandoned the migration treaty. Since then, 3 more pops of the alien lizards have grown on both colonies again in a row, and 2 have grown on my homeworld.

None of my species migrated to the other empire. Neither species has any growth modifiers. The only difference was that they had an advanced start and a population of ~110 compared to mine of ~50. Has my species given up reproducing? Will mine only grow again when planetary pops are 50% each race?

Yes and yes. Also, if you start a new colony, the same thing will happen (50/50) despite you getting no immigration pull towards the colony or from you other 3 colonies. Doesn't matter if your homeworld is 20% habitability to them, so each of them is costing 1.8 amenities and consumer goods.

It's a rather annoying system, growth should really be by species or something. My newest empire wasn't even xenophile, but I did have migration treaties. By 2350 or so, my own species was only 5% of the total empire population. 100 years later, it's 3% without the origin species being about the same number of pops as 100 years ago (80-something). This despite colonizing a ringworld with origin species colony ships, for example.

It's rather silly, do I really have to forego any migration treaties in the future if I want to "preserve" my species' status? Do I have to build a wall megastructure around my empire and make the other empires pay for it since I can't possibly have enough alloys for that? Bad joke aside, no migration treaties would also mean no suitable secondary species to use for colonizing planets that my own species doesn't like. Should I maybe allow migration for a time, but then forcibly relocate each different species to separate planets so that my species can still procreate instead of the aliens getting all the action? Seems like more of a hassle than it should be. But I suppose at least it'd cut down on the amenities/consumer goods usage while at it as you'd have to try to keep them in their preferred habitability zones.
