The "market share increase" message is not the same as the "trade expanded" message.

The former means that both your merchant and a foreign one competed each other out of the CoT. The message is a bit misleading.

The latter means that you now have 1 more merchant in the CoT.

In 1.03 I have all my merchant-related messages set to display.
I send 6 merchants to a COT. I am charged as such.

I get 2 messages that tell me so and so lost a merchant.
I get 2 messages telling me that I have expanded my trade.
I get 1 message telling me that I have failed to expand my trade.
I do NOT get a 6th message. Clearly, the game has "forgotten" him in some way. This is the same symptom of the "dissappearing merchants" that was happening before.

I believe it may have something to do with dispatching multiple merchants on the same day when the game isn't paused, as this seems to make it more likely.

Yoko's post shows the "failed to expand trade" message is working now (new to 1.03). This message has been broken since EU I. I think all the messages work, now.

I have long been of the opinion that sending multiple merchants on the same day is a bad idea - something strange in the game - I send them once a week when I want to send multiple merchants.

It was working before, if you turned it on. But it seems that the default message settings are set by a very strange person, as it has this one set to "don't tell me" and all the rest set to popup.

The message settings are poorly set every patch, at any rate.

Yokozar is right, there are still missing messages when you send merchants (less than with 1.02, but some are still missing). The main fix with merchants is not competing away merchants when you have a TA with them.

I will look in the bug list to see if I need to open a new bug for that.
