If no one builds DN's or BB's, why does it matter how MW's perform against them?

That was my point. :)

Both problems need fixed. I was just amused at it from my perspective.

It makes no difference. If other people aren't complaining about it, then I must be insane.

Still I've run through at least 10 GC's now to 1880 and have only seen modern ships (beyond steamers and commerce raiders) when I manipulate the situation to produce them.

I've played a couple games into the BB era, and what I've noticed is that (apart from steamers and raiders) NO ai ever builds anything after MW/FR EXCEPT the uk which will sometimes build BBs (but no CA/CL or IC/MO)

It may have to do with the ai looking at the MWs, comparing them combat-wise to the ICs/CAs, and deciding that it's not worth the cost to build the new fleet b/c the MWs are still effective

Jacky Fisher event

Just my two cents,

Maybe the British could also have a 'Jacky Fisher' event w/c can be either accepted or not - if accepted the British should lose all their older warships (ships of the line, firgates, etc.) and must be forced to rebuild with new ships. Thats what Adm Jacky Fisher did, scrapped the lot.

But I definitely agree a Ship of the Line should not have a snowballs chance in heck to sink a Dreadnought!! (Even if Russell Crowe's in command)

Both the US and UK build BB's and DN's, but I (so far) haven't seen any other nations build them (apart from me heh heh!)

I believe part of the issue is if the AI is replacing combat losses or not. I saw the UK get in a scrap (me as USA) with Austria, France, Russia and China at different times. The end result was the loss of most of their older ships. By 1895 or so, the UK had rebuilt 117 BB's; France, after I sank its navy, rebuilt with Raiders. The Two Sicilies built up a large number of IC's (around 80 or so) and an independent Ireland built a dozen or so CL's.

Well there is no solution that the player can do.

The only solution is to manually take control of the US, UK, etc. and delete their MW and FR's once they get the tech to build modern ships. Then you have to do the same thing to their IC's once they get BB's and DN's.

They don't build them otherwise. They don't build them sometimes if you do that.

I'm glad 1.02 might fix this. This was my second biggest problem with the game, behind the insane army sizes.
