German panzer tech bug.

There are bugs regarding the German panzer tech.

1. in the 1939 and 1941 scenarios Germany has the technologie to build basic light tanks with 20+mm gun. Historically this was only a basic light tank with a MG. Its correct in the 1936 scenario, but please correct this in the other 2 scenarios.

2. because of bug #1 there are basic light tanks with 20+mm gun in the 1939 scenario. They have to be changed to basic light tanks with MG.

3. and as far as I remember, some tanks in the 1941 scenario had the wrong gun too, but the right class. normally all German tank divisions should have 50+mm guns in this scenario.

To make it easier for you to correct the tech bug; here is what to change:

Just change the 2105 tech value in the 1939 and 1941 scenario files to 2104.

p.s.: All these bugs are corrected in the German OOBs I have created. If anyone reading this would like to have them, then just send me a short private message with your email address.

edit: I just discovered that there is a tech missing in the 1941 scenario. The Germans should have the "Improved Medium Tank 70+mm" technology. Regarding the picture beside it in the game it shows a Panzer IV and the Germans already had the Panzer IV since the attack vs. Poland where already 200 Panzer IV participated. If anyone wants to correct this for himself, you simply have to add the 2410 tech to the 1941 scenario file.

edit2: For sure there have to be changed some tank divisions to Panzer IV too. I will take a look at it and see how many and which they should be.

edit3: There is a similar problem in the 1939 scenario, because the Germans already had the technology to build "basic medium tanks 50+mm". They did not participate in large numbers in the attack on Poland, so no tank divisions have to be changed, but Germany was already building divisions with these tanks. So the technologies which have to be added are: "Basic Medium Tank Prototype Tests" #2314 and "Basic Medium Tank (50+mm)" #2318.

edit4: After my first research I think that at least 2 or 3 tank divisions should have improved medium tanks with 70+mm guns in the 1941 scenario.

Thanks for your attention :)

Well its was quite a difference between the PZ IV C to F1 with the short barreld L24 75mm and the PZIV F2 with the long barreled KWK 40 L43 75mm ordered 11/41 and that were introduced in early 1942 as a response to the threat of the Russian T34 and KV tanks.

What the game means to portray with the "Improved Medium Tank 70+mm" is of course open to discussion but I take it to mean the newer upgunned version.

sure you can talk about it, but you cannot display everything in detail in the game. it would be great if we could do so, but you have to be a little abstract here. The Panzer IV was definetly better then the Panzer III so it has to be improved med. tank.

i noticed too little difference between the pz 4 70mm and the panther 70mm !! the panther should have much better stats. it had the L70 gun - a much better one then the L48 the pz4 H had ( which i think is represented in the game as pz.4 ). and was much better armored ! the pz. 4 was much cheaper though...

The KWK75mm L70 had even slighty improved armor piercing capability in comparison to the famous KWK88mm L56 equipped to the Tiger I (which was far more effective than the Sovjet 85mm gun). Just regard this guns represented in the game by the next higher calibres. So just equip your beloved Panther with the 80mm+ gun and your Tiger with the 90mm+ gun.

Indeed... Otherwise the American, British, Japanese, Afghani and Liberian tanks would all have those stats as well. Sorry, you'll have to live with the abstracted stats as they are

Correct. The advanced medium 70mm German tank in the game is called a Panther, but it should really be the Pz4 G+ series with the long barrel 76mm gun.
The names used in the game don't match the historical complexity of the III and IV series, and there are too many historical German medium tanks to fit into the three available medium categories. Historically it was Pz3e series, short barrel Pz4 series, Pz3 with the longer 50+ mm gun, and the long barrelled 76mm Pz4. But due to the mix and match barrel component, it's really impossible to give an accurate name to the various medium tanks in the game. I build basic medium 30, improved medium 50, and advanced medium 70 in an effort to simulate the historical types, but the names given to the medium and advanced tanks do not match their historical equivalents.
