Ingerman Peril...

Hmm.....I've noticed with the new patch Moscovy in both the AOE and GC don't have Ingermanland as a national province....hmmmm....neither does Novgorad...I wonder if in the GC the other Russian Pricipalies have this problem as well....hmm......what do you see? What do you think? Personally I would like to see it as a national province again.....:(

Well, just use that handy-dandy scenario editor to make it a core province for those countries (which it should be anyway)!

Novgorod certainly does have Ingermanland as a core province in 1419. (I've not checked the other scenarios.) No other nation does, however.
[EDIT: Nope, Novgorod doesn't either. Controlledprovinces isn't nationalprovinces, no matter how tired one is when one looks at the scenario file.]

Denmark, Poland, Sweden, and Russia can all get CB shields on it in The Fate of the Teutonic Order series of events, though these don't go off if the TO isn't still around to fall apart in 1560 or 1561.

Oddly enough, Russia does not get a chance at a CB shield if the TO makes the historical choice (Polish-Swedish agreement). Even worse, Russia doesn't get a CB in either of the two events that can move the capital to Ingermanland.

That is kind of bad, and I'm pretty sure that Novgorod doesn't get Ingermanland as a core province in the GC - I just started a GC as them. The do own it, but it isn't core. Guess what one of the first goals of the AI Sweden/Denmark is to conquer...

I don't think so. I'm also not sure that it is a bug, it was probably deliberately removed (not sure why, since I think it is wrong - should be a core province for Russia).

I think it was done so Sweden could actually get past Ingermandland and to Estland and maybe even Kourland. And historically Peter the Great didn't have a claim on it (didn't even have a peace settlement) when he built the Peter & Paul fortress. But after the St. Petersburg event, it should be a national province.

What? How about Ivangorod? And the fact that baltic tribes paid tribute to Russian princes in Novgorod in 1200s? If Russia has a CB on Kexholm, I don't understand why they don't have it on Ingermanland.

Crook, you obviously have alot more knowledge than I of Russian claims on Ingermanland. I was just offering some suggestions and a possible reason why Paradox decided to remove the CB on it. But as has been mentioned, it probably is for game purposes. And you'd have to ask someone else on the CB on Kexholm question. And just because a few tribes paid tributes to Novgorod doesn't mean the Russian Princes could actually convince anyone to go to war because Sweden suddenly took it over.

Well poor Russia has a hard problem dealing with its problems already most of the time so this just worsens it a bit more....:(

Yeah mine too. They usual expand very well into Russian principites, and Golden Hordes but that is it. Anybody from West could win the war against them easily.

They did. There were constant border conflicts between Muscovy/Novgorod and Sweden over Karelia and Finland. Those areas were considered Novgorodian possessions.

And BTW there was a Russo-Livonian war in 1200s when Teutons tried to impose their own tribute on baltic tribes and forbade them to send tribute to the Russian Grand Prince. The war was won by Novgorod and the tribute rights were restored. So, yes there was a long-term standing claim to those areas on part of Novgorod/Muscovy/Russia.
