BUG: FIXED IN 1.06: CTD on "Sale of Florida" event

bug in the american scenario

I have had this happen several times now. while playing the US, I play very aggresivly, stay friendly with france take most of the UKs provinces in NA then start wooping on spain (after the Louisiania purchase).

So I am kicking the crap out of spain in south america, mexico and centeral america. when the game hits something in may I think 1817 or 1818 and crashes, just dumps to the desktop.

Tried several different actions but nothing worked. Finally uninstalled it and reinstalled it, course the save game files were gone.

Found it. It's the sale of Florida to the USA:

The lines I have put in bold are wrong... it should be data = -1, not data = 1.

Can't believe nobody ever noticed this before...

As you say - amazing. I wonder if it does not CTD if you are playing anyone except USA. In any case, fixed. And very well done in findign it!

Johnar:- sorry you lost your saved games. Normally the saves are not removed if you uninstall the game, but in any case I would say you should copy saves elsewhere before deinstalling ANY game, just in case. As it turns out there is a simple fix for the crash if you can recover the save. Maybe the deleted files are in your trashcan? Look for files ending in .eug and .eug.cfg .

thanks for the help with that guys. One question though is how do i change it, what file is it in. Please assume I know nothing of programming as i don't.

It's in the db/events/ directory. The filename is major_spa.txt.

Just edit the three lines to be data = -1 instead of data = 1.
