Multiple CTDs

In my first game, as Japan, I experienced huge amounts of CTds but only in the last few game years. I think I had 14 CTDs in all in 1890s to 1920.

In my next game to reach as far, as Spain, I've reach 1890 and I get a CTD over and over: I can't get to 1891 at the moment. There are no events firing and CTD is on different dates and I'm not doing anything with my nation. I wondered if the game is having problems dealing with the increase in info that it must generate as nations begin to reach their peak?

Is anyone else having this same problem?

Yes - its almost certainly the independence of Luxembourg event. Edit the save game to remove the -1 in the list of provinces from Luxembourg

You're absolutley right! After calming down (I got a bit peaved with it crashing), I reloaded and looked for a common event. It is the independence of Luxembourg thats crashing my game. Eventually, the event didn't fire and I continued until about 1896ish when my game kept getting aCTD because of a militancy event in the Phillipines. If you elect to crush the uprising you get the CTD if you give ib ( at a huge loss in £ and prestige ) the game continues.

BIG QUESTION: How do you edit a save game? I'm not too good at editing stuff and the last time I tried (EUII game). The save game file won't open. Will it open OK with word pad??

Visit site
In your Vic Games Directory, using Windows Explorer, go into your scenarios directory, then into your savegames

right click on autosave (or if you have extensions visisble, it's autosave.eug) amd NOT autosave.eug.cfg (or if extensions are NOT visible, autosave.eug)

If you're confused as to which one you want to edit (in Windows Explorer) click on View then Details

the file you do NOT want to edit is 1k in size

right click on the file you want to edit, and choose open with then choose notepad

after the file opens click on Edit then Find and type in -1 and hit Enter on the keyboard.

Just remove the -1 as Derek said, once your done click on file then save, and your done

Nicholi

[EDIT] If this was a bit too confusing, send me a pm and i'll try to tidy it up some :) I've been doing this type of stuff for way too many years, and I try to make sure the suggestions I give are Simple, but what is Simple for me sometimes is complex for others.

Yes it will open with wordpad (only thing you should open it with really - too big for notepad I think). The Spanish crash event sounds odd - don't recall having heard a problem with that one.

The only reason for it failing would be that one of the Phillipine provinces does not have any minority (i.e. non Spanish) POPs. Thats isn't the case is it??
