Hello fellow kings and queens,

I’m having trouble with the same-sex marriage. From what I understood, there are two ways to perform same-sex marriage :
  • Either by enabling the option in the game rules before the game starts
  • Or by adopting a faith that authorizes same-sex relationships, like Catharism
The first option works just fine, I tested it in another game, but turning the achivements off. We can see that in the in-game description.

As for the second one... well, not works. You can read this post and noticed the official answer: same-sex-marriage-with-faith-doctrine-allowing-it.1544775

But the thing is the description in-game said: «Same-sex marriage and concubinage is available for everyone whose Faith acceps it». It's worted there. And it's fake. I don't know if it is a bug, an error or what, but it's not working.

The patch 1.5 was annunced like a «same-sex-lovers friendly experience» just by that point and many dedicated portals promoted it.

Now, Paradox punish us because we use the only way we can get that mechanic available.

Please, if it's a bug or error, fix it or give us al alternative and temporal solution like don't turn off the achivements if we turn on this option.

I really sorry my poor english. I tried to doy my best to comunicate but is not my lenguaje. I don't try to botering somebody. It's a complex idea to express in a foreing lenguaje.

It is difficult to read and write in a foreign language, so I am writing simply and clearly.

You have misunderstood. There are not two options to perform same-sex marriages. There is only one option.

Summary:

There are not two options for same-sex marriages, there is one with two requirements.

First, you must pick the “accepted” option for the game rule “Same-Sex Marriage”. Second, you must follow a religion that has the doctrine “Same-Sex Relations: Accepted”.

Longer Answer:

The game rule “Same-Sex Marriage” has two options. These options are “default” and “accepted”.

If you chose “default”, same-sex marriages are not possible.

It is important to know that “same-sex relations” and “same-sex marriage” are not the same. Same-sex relations exist in every game. Under the “default” Same-Sex Marriage game rule, same-sex marriage does not exist.

In Catharism, same-sex relations are “accepted”. This means that Cathars do not consider sex with someone of the same sex or gender a sin.

Let’s return to the game rule “Same-Sex Marriage.”

If you chose the “accepted” option, then same-sex marriages are possible. In this case, religions like Catharism, which have the doctrine “same-sex relations: accepted” also have same-sex marriage.

The word “accepted” is used several times in the game. It is important to pay attention to the context.

EDIT: to add color to really emphasize the distinction between the two concepts because it is repetitive.

I'm actually surprised that those game rules disable achievements - I get why inverted gender equality retains achievements, while equal disables since equal doubles 2x the heir options, but same sex relations or marriage being accepted doesn't make the game particularly easier for the player like faster conversion speeds

I Sorry, but that you said is a contradiction with the game itself saids. I quoted it for everyone in my post. The Paradox's description saids «Same-sex marriage and concubinage is available for everyone whose Faith acceps it». So... i still din't see my error.

Are you telling me Paradox said «Same-sex marriage and concubinage is available for everyone whose Faith acceps it» but there aren't any Faith or, btw, any option in game to do that. Like I invite you to my party when no party exist?

The game rule is not written in a precise manner. It should say “same-sex marriage […] is available to for everyone whose faith accepts same-sex relations.

There is no distinct doctrine about same-sex marriage in game. If you chose the “default” option for rule Same-Sex Marriage, same-sex marriage does not exist in game. Same-sex marriage only exists in games where the rule is set to “accepted” at game start. Then, same-sex marriage is available to religions with the doctrine “same-sex relations: accepted”.
