BUG: Empty naval fleets

Empty naval fleets

This is very odd, The AI builds these fleets which have no ships! Hamburg, for example, is littered with these fleets. They are assigned a naval leader but for some reason they don't have any ships whatsoever attached to the fleet. See this screen shot for a better description:

indeed I do... the game won't last though for more than 18 hours. It will CTD right around there. If I loaded the game through my normal country (Japan) it will not CTD. Let me know your email and I'll send the savegame to you. Taking a closer look, it seems only Germany has these empty navies.

This is what one of those navies looks like in the savegame file:

normally, there should be a leader body and one or more division bodies under that.

You are right.

Vichy in my game had *lots* of squadrons with a leader, but without ships.

i've seen this in every game i've come across so far. i don't have a pic handy but what TheDarkside posted is quite true for my games. if those empty fleets are attacked by enemy vessels they at least disappear immediately. still, they should be appearing in the game.

BTW: It's not just Germany as I had thought... I see Italian fleets and Turkish fleets with same problem.

I've seen these in all the games I've played too. I believe they are the result of the Computer controlled countries repairing fleets. Each time they do this the ship goes to the build que and it leaves behind an empty fleet.

It's happened to me in my current game as Germany in 1.03. I had Grand Admiral Boehm with the Kriegsmarine sitting in the North Atlantic and saved the game. The next day I came back, Boehm was still there but with no ships (Maybe he was in a lifeboat.) The Squad I had in a port retained its ships however.

Come to think it

I have seen this as well. When Romania joined me they had some empty fleets. I just highlighted them all and combined them and it solved the problem. But yes this bug exists. I see the French do it as well.

Check the saved game I sent you 3 days ago the one with the Vichy Navy under German control. It has the empty fleets in it as well. Look at Rumania!

AHA... Btw, for the Vichy navies... Doomdark couldn't reproduce. Even with your save... It worked fine for him.

When I get the other save of this bug, I'll attach both of them

If you load that saved game look at the ships Germany has in Algeria (in the ports) and in Germany itself. They are French ships!


Just curious is france conquered in the save I sent you? If not then I sent you the wrong one.

The problem happens fast. I freed Belgium and 2 days later the first 0 fleet appeard .

I saw this phenomenon in many handoffs, especially for Germany and the USA.
When you try to merge the "zero fleets", the game usually crashes. But when you select or deselect just one of the fleets, all of them disappear.

Really, really weird.

Did you not get my e-mails ?? I first sent you an email with an uncompressed save game- due to it's size it got rejected by your email server. So I sent you a regular emal with a link to my save on my FTP site. So just download it off this web site then:

savegame (Darkside_savegame.zip - compressed)

Play as Germany and look at the fleet in Hamburg

Or play as Italy and look at the fleet in the Albanian port

Same in 1.02

I saw this in 1.02, but it was only 1 or 2 leaders. It was Land and Armor units.
Now in 1.03 I see it all the time with several Naval leaders.
Yes, check out Romania. This game I have zero. The game before I had ships.
