mixed up province names

I think the province names of Sichuan and Xinjiang in Western China got mixed up. the map says sichuan on one but the text in the game says Xinjiang, while in the other province where the map says Xinjiang, the texts/info says Sichaun. Either change the text on the map (which makes it more accurate) or change the text in the game to make it consistent with the map. thanx

They are mixed up, but the writing on the map is impossible to change. The text in the province.csv is corrected which is confusing but more correct - should it be right historically but wrong when compared to the (faulty) map or should it be right when compared to map but wrong otherwise? (Poll? ;))

I'd say keep the text the same as the map. The game is confusing enough for newcomers already.

and I'll get just about the same number of people who will tell us the opposite :D

...But even more important than consistency is not paying to get province.csv localized again and again to fix minor issues, I'd suppose.

Every time text changes in the English version, the distributors with localized versions need to change their texts as well. You wouldn't believe the problems, delays, and costs involved in even trivial changes.* :)

In other words, if you want text to change, change it yourself. :D

*I'm not kidding. It may seem simple to you to say: just swap the name of #1544 with that of #1606, but once it needs to be done by 5+ distributors it involves at least 10 people total (5 administrative types and 5 translators/grunts responsible for localization - and more likely 15+), one has got to ask whether the intended result is worth the cost. It seldom is.

idealistically (practical issues aside), i'd say it's better to be consistent. most ppl dont even know/care about the inaccurate province naming. further, the current naming of other Chinese provinces is not perfect anyway.
on the other hand, if we keep the inconsistent naming, it will cause confusion for players, eg in a peace deal they thought they were suing for a particular province but instead get the other one.
