[Bug] Cannot select a character

So you can select a pre-made character on the menu from single player.

But my problem is that you cannot select a custom character so it says up the top where the date is: "Click on the map to select a character" Way ahead of you, I click who I want to go as and then click play there I am waiting about 10 minutes and nothing is happening. I think it's just a bug at first and click play again....Yeah after an hour I think this is a bug.

I did ask on the steam forums but I guess this hasn't happened before or in a while. Please help. Thanks

Huh not getting any answers as usual with any developer.

There isn't any expectation that you will get a response with any issue. The best way to get a response is to provide as much information as possible so that QA can duplicate your issue.

Looking at this I don't know what your issue is. I can start custom games without issue with any character by clicking on the map.

Can you please explain the steps you are taking to have this issue. Even provide a screenshot of where the issue is taking place.

Okay: 1). I click play on steam. 2). I wait and click play on the launcher. 3). As soon as I get to the main menu I click single player. 40. As soon as it loads I click Viking Age then custom character. 5). I Go to Ireland and pick Deasmhumain and try to click play. That's when It goes greyish but nothing happens. It still says up the top that I need to click a character.

I have no idea what this problem could be. I think it thinks I haven't selected a character or something. Has it got something to do with DLC? or anything like that?

Okay I think I found the problem. It was something to do with the religion. It was on Catholic so I changed it. I can play so I changed it back to catholic and now that works. Is this a bug or something?

I followed these steps exactly and clicking play opened up the game rules window as expected.

It will always say that up the top it is an explanation of what to do.

Using the DLC as per your screenshot doesn't change the effects.

If this isn't occurring like that for you, you should try verifying your game files with steam. If that doesn't work try reinstalling completely - manually removing the game folder in the steam directory.

Well thank you for the help Dracko. It seems like it's fixed. All I had to do to fix it was to change my faction from catholic to something else then back to catholic.
