Bug advice and new player tips needed

Just got HoI III on the Steam sale. Tried playing it. After I started in USSR in the earliest start date, I opened up production and the game immediately crashed. Anybody know what happened?

Also, what advice do you have for new players?

First attempt at fixing it myself. Went in to the HoI III documents folder, deleted the cache folder from the map folder, as often helps for keeping V II from crashing.

Didn't work. Problem does not stem from the production page. Screen turns grey and then closes.

Have you installed Podcat's EXE for HOI? It resolves a lot of issues in the game.

No. Just got the game.

I'd suggest reinstalling the game. It seems like you are missing files. I have windows 10 and the game runs fine on that, so yeah.

Also, you have HOI3 registered to the forum so Tech Support for HOI3 should be available for you.

If you haven't, yet, try posting there. The techy types tend to respond quicker in that part of the forum.

Since you went through steam, I assume you've tried this already, but some folks don't know the functionality exists. Right click on the game in your steam library, go to properties, and then click on the local files tab, under that you'll see a few different options, click "verify the integrity of the game cache" that will take some time, but steam will peruse the files and see if there's anything missing: note in the future if you get into modding and so on, you won't be able to use this option because it'll copy over your changes.
