Bug in French Event Fall of Louis Phillippe

I posted on this before, but the trigger in the Fall of Louis Phillippe is wrong.

It doesn't seem this bug was logged, but I could be wrong.

The event is triggered by constitution = democracy.

It should be triggered by constitution = constitutional_monarchy

and create a democracy.

Louis Phillippe can't fall if he doesn't exist. :)

This is why, incidentally, almost no games started in 1836 feature Louis Napoleon's events or unification of Italy under Sardinia or the Pope.

I'd vote for adding an OR trigger for France havinga constitutional nonarchy or a regular monarchy just to cover all the bases. As these are the triggers for installing Maximillian in power in Mexico. Make sense for the same to happen if Nepolean falls just a few years later.

You should add that trigger too.

Except that a real Monarchy in France would represent the return of the Comte d' Chambord as King Henri V and would not be an Orleanist monarchy.

Orleanism was a commitmen to constitutionalism as much if not more than it was a commitment to the Orleans family.

But this is just being technical. You're right. Monarchy should be covered.

I think we posted this before but its fixed in 1.02 (with monarchy amd constitutional monarchy). For some reasons Napoleon always seems to lose the election and coup afterwards in the betas but it does work (and creates an unholy mess in Italy :D )

maybe the problem is that you will never have a reactionary majority and hard to have conservative absolute majority (perhaps any ideology in the majority)

Instead, how about largest ideology is conservative or conservative plus reactionary = majority

Well the game seems to muddle through :) I don't think the voting system needs to be rigged for Napoleon. After all he still gets his way in the end.

There is a bug in the trigger of Napoleon elected President that is causing the problem you are having with the betas.

I'm surprised that you are having this problem, though. Its YOUR fix I'm using that is causing my election of Louis Napoleon to trigger properly. :) You wrote it personally in response to my point about this right when I first got the game.

Also, as someone else pointed out, the Coup of Louis Napoleon is bugged. It should trigger regardless of whether he is elected president. Right now it only triggers if he is not.

In fact, he coupled AS the president to become prince-president.

I can fix all that on my own, but if others want a decent game featuring Napoleon III, they need to make that change. Otherwise when the Empire comes about, the basic value is still liberty (should be order) and the government type is not HMS government.

I summarized all these before, and am surprised that the betas have a version of events that don't work properly for Louis Napoleon's events. I thought this was my big contribution to the game, getting the Second Empire to function. :)

Yes, I made a similar change as well.

I was being safer and just triggering coup on 7203, the event that announces the election. This way it would work even if some bug caused the election results to mess up or people later added additional options for winners of the '48 election (not sure who those additional candidates would be, perhaps an Orleanist like Aldolphe Thiers, but that wouldn't make much sense).

I also don't trust OR statements. :)
