This trait is basically just filler that makes useful traits (especially the strictly-superior Meticulous, which it can't pair with) harder to find now.

I recommend the following changes in particular, to make it a reliability trait:
  • Add +10% science ship disengagement chance
  • Add -10% leader cost and upkeep
  • Make it not mutually exclusive with Meticulous

Someone told me that an unspecified Dev Diary said that the Mindful trait will generate more events when used on a digsite.

Which is not mentioned on the Trait itself, and the Trait's penalty seems to discourage using it on a digsite, but that's what I have been told.

I still prefer Meticulous by a HUGE amount...

That's...interesting, but really goes against what I put scientists on dig sites for (to get the relics or my precursor stuff faster). A 5% speed debuff (and opportunity cost of the speed buff) in exchange for maybe some occasional fringe benefits is not exactly an okay trade...
If they want me to use the trait on dig sites, they should at least remove the speed debuff, so it's "well, I'll put this guy on instead of the resilient guy, maybe he'll get something good".

Because the mechanic is vague and undocumented I can't say anything about it good or bad, except that the documentation and mechanical transparency are lacking.

But allegedly, it's "good" for dig sites, for some value of "good". (And in opposition to the implications of its own tooltip.)
