Defence station HP/armor is extremely underwhelming at the moment and most stations (even the fortresses) die without inflicting any casualties (though this is also a result of buggy target selection/switching in the combat AI). I'm not saying they need more weapons but they do need to stand a chance of lasting long enough for help to arrive.
On the same lines - starbases should receive additional HP for each upgrade. I'd also like to see the option of adding the other defence modules (which should add weapons of that type + armor + shilds + more HP than a standard module) so that a front line starbase could have the laser, kinetic and missile weapons.
Given that a fully upgraded starbase can cost upwards of 6000m it blows that it can be destroyed as easily as a lvl 1.
Starbases should also have shields.
This way - starbases can actually defend themselves which makes sense. Any race with half a brain building a starbase next to a hostile border would give it a crap load of pointy sticks. It's really frustrating that this is currently not an option.
