Ever since I found out I can name Bubbles "Kos" (or some say "Kosm"), I've been craving the ability to make our beloved space creature ascend into end-game power levels.

My suggestion on a possible way to make this happen is making the second ascension perk from the three ascension paths (genetic, synthetic and psionic) allow evolving Bubbles in a way or another:
  • Genetic ascension optimizes Bubbles' body to untold levels of biological perfection, allowing it to be, well, at the very least an even more powerful amoeba (this needs more spice, any suggestions to spice it up?).
  • Synthetic ascension strengthens Bubbles in the form of abundant tailored cybernetic implants, or even converting it into a giant living spaceship with crew accomodations and all. Basically allowing it to have shields and modern weapons and, more importantly, allowing it to join fleets and have admirals.
  • Psionic ascension awakens Bubbles' psychic power: a vast mind, a vast power. Bubbles becomes capable of communicating with your people directly besides gaining outstanding psionic powers (psychic blasts (X-slot psionic weapons? dare I say, a T-slot, even?) and psychic shields). Communication means she can be coordinated like your empires' ships, so you can have her join fleets and stuff.
Opinions and additional/alternative ideas are all welcome.

It'd be cool to have more interactions with space fauna in general.

TBH the long dreamed of biological ships/empires could be linked to the amoeba in general. Upgrading and interacting with the void dragons, upgrading the automated dreadnaught, ranching the tiyanaki, creating psionic void clouds, etc.

I still believe ALL organic life forms that can come under your control should be able to receive upgrades, like dark matter thrusters and maybe even be given shields.
Just so they can keep up with the rest of the fleet and do away with some weaknesses.
Maybe even a breeding program, where you can make a whole fleet of them.

Bio ascention = make organic versions of the best ship techs.
Cybernetic = use implants that lets them use the better ship techs.
Psionic = have a psionic "rider" that through a constant psionic link, work with the creature to control the better ship techs strapped to them.
