For those who like this board game, the third and final expansion has been announced.

Want to play as Athena, blow up the hub and take Galactica to Earth? You can once the expansion is released.

http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_npm_sec.asp?eidm=191&esem=1

I can't wait to see this released, unfortunately there isn't a play group in my city that would like to play BSG, so I think I will have to try out the experience purely online :(

Anyone want to go to Earth?

Sweet. Any news on the release date?

*gasp* .. *another* expansion?
OMG. I thought Exodus would definitely be the last one.
Apparently not ..

edit:
So here goes another round of getting a new DeckManager update, then.

Well, Exodus only gets us to Ionian Nebula, there's still season 4 where the goal is to reach Earth.

If you go back and check the base game represents season 1, each expansion represents the next season. Given BSG have 4 seasons, it makes sense to have 3 expansions after the base game.

That may be true, but it doesn't mean it makes any sense from the business side of things.
After all, we're talking about a TV series that ran 10 years ago by now ..

And from the game mechanical side of things - really, do we need this game to become *even more* complicated? :p

It is a bit surprising given how long since the last expansion was released, however they must have run through their business case and found it to be worthwhile.

The game does not necessarily means more complicated, it might be similar in difficulty to a game with Ionian Nebula as the final destination.

Well, at the very least there's 25 more skill cards to consider, we suddenly have "miracle tokens" instead of OPG's, certain characters now exist in two different flavors (so choosing "Lee Adama" for instance is suddenly ambiguous), and it brings not one but *two* new side boards .. and there's a new endgame, the cylon locations can get flipped to "hub destroyed" status possibly changing the effect of those locations entirely ..

Yeah, I somehow doubt this game will get any less complicated, especially if you combine it with other expansions.
How about a game of: distance 4 = sleeper phase, distance 6 = New Caprica, distance 8 -> The Trial, and then the new endgame for extremely complicated gameplay? :p

RepBentley plays XO-1 on Randakar who left the following preload:

##Preload: If I get an XO from RepBentley, do the following:
## Play Scout for Fuel
## Play Launch Scout, targeting crisis deck

I'll wait a bit before resolving this in case anyone wants to play any cards.

10 distance will be a lot to cover. You can get to 8 within 3 (more likely 4) jumps but for 10 you'll need 4 at the very least. Probably more as you'll want to replenish fuel at least once.

Preload draw pol/tre for my draw

Yes, pol. Not pil.

.. of course.

They might raise the starting resources a bit to compensate for the extra distance.
The original board game has room for it on the board, so they could easily have a distance 10 game start with 10 fuel instead of 8, for instance.

If you want to try some type of mega game you can have a check on boardgamegeeks, there are posts about what can be done to combine all end goals.

However New Caprica is awful for this purpose because it is hard enough for the Humans when it is THE end game, it is next to impossible for Humans to abandon lots of civ ships and still have enough resource to last another jump or two if you are going to keep going.

Drat. The rolls really don't favor me, do they?

Ok. This crisis will require some thought. It has prep, but ..

edit:
edit2: Updated.

Regarding glasszon's stack of POL cards:

glasszon draws 2 POL

Go for the skill check
Play Guts and Initiative-1
Play Investigative Committee-3

Down to 1 ..

glasszon draws 2 POL.

.. back up to 3 ..

Play 4 weak cards.

There could have been 1 POL in there, if he sabotaged that check before the sleeper phase. Not terribly likely, so I'm going to discount it.

and discards
Repair-2
Consolidate Power-1
Evasive Maneuvers-1
Evasive Maneuvers-2
Establish Network-0
Consolidate Power-2
Launch Scout-2

That's 2 POL cards gone, so down to 1.

glasszon draws Treachery/1 and Piloting/1

Not a POL card, but that's his first TRE card. Let's keep it in mind.

Play Red Tape-0

.. and that's the last of them.
So glasszon shouldn't have any POL any more. For now, at least.

Regarding Kingepyon's stack of POL cards:

Kingepyon draws Politics/1, Leadership/2, Engineering/2

1 card.

The next place where his POL count might change is a bit of a puzzle. A skill check, where he plays:

Other people play: Jacob 1w, EL 2w, RepBentley 1s1w

Code:
[B]POL/LEA = 10[/B]

Leadership-2 (Executive Order)
Leadership-2 (Major Victory)
Politics-1 (Consolidate Power)
Politics-1 (Consolidate Power)
Leadership-3 (At Any Cost)
Politics-1 (Consolidate Power)
Politics-2 (Consolidate Power)
Leadership-5 (Declare Emergency)

Engineering-4 (Calculations)

17 - 4 = 13 PASS!

There are 4 POL cards in this check. Jacob doesn't draw POL and RepBentley's strong here was almost certainly the LEA-5 card.
That accounts for 2 out of 4 LEA cards.
The DD could have added 1 POL. Possibly 2, if King already was a cylon back there, but I kinda don't think so. So I'm going to assume 1.
EL and RepBentley *could* have added 2 and 1 pol each, respectively. If EL added 1 lea, or if Repbentley added another lea on top of the strong lea card, King should now be back down to 0.
Otherwise he may still have 1 POL in hand.

So: 0/1 POL.

Kingepyon draws Politics/1, Leadership/2, Engineering/2

1/2 POL.

Play Support the People-2

0/1 POL.

Kingepyon draws Politics/1, Leadership/2, Engineering/2

1/2 POL.

Discard:
Red Tape-0
Executive Order-1
Executive Order-2

0/1 POL.
Note how he discards a Red Tape here. Would have kept any further Red Tape cards at this point? I doubt it, especially if he wasn't a cylon before the sleeper phase.

Kingepyon draws Politics/1, Leadership/2 and Engineering/2

1/2 POL.

Discard:
Investigative Committee-5
At Any Cost-3
At Any Cost-4
Repair-1
Scientific Research-3[/B]

Back down to 0/1 POL.

Kingepyon draws Treachery/1

His first TRE card.

Human Weakness-3

.. and gone.

edit: Scratch that.

King could still have 1 POL card in hand. It really depends on what he put into that skill check up above.
EL, RepBentley, do you guys remember that check? Is it possible King still has 1 POL card in hand, or not?
Personally I think it unlikely - if he still has a Red Tape he drew it at the start of his last turn - but I'd like to be sure, regardless.

edit3: I could probably figure this out by tracking EL's POL hand over time up to that point .. he used / discarded a lot of POL publicly.
But I really should get some work done now, so I'll just have to be back with you in bit.

Ok, screw that. I'm just going to go for it.
It has jump prep, and it doesn't result in us getting shot at multiple times.

Crisis time!

Code:
CRISIS: Resistance

Skill Check: POL/LEA/TAC = 12

PASS: No Effect
9+: -1 food
FAIL: -1 food, -1 fuel

POST CRISIS: Activate Heavies, +1 Jump Prep

## Enforce turn order

I wonder if heavies getting activated is better than getting shot at with 3 raiders. I mean, even 10 failed to do any sufficient damage. Now, on the other hand, you get a visitor.

By the way, what happens when multiple heavies can board on the same turn, like it would be after 2 more activations? Will they all get removed and a lone centurion appear?
